With all due respect to the Mayor, who the hell does he think he's kidding with this crap? Let's review.
"But the mayor insists he does not have a problem with Mazzie's performance during his three-year tenure as chief of the 93-officer department." He insists he doesn't have a problem with Mazzie's performance? Then why replace him? To give the other guys an opportunity? This isn't the school playground, and Hanlon isn't the playground monitor making sure everyone gets to take a ride on the swings. If Hanlon has no problem with the job Mazzie has been doing, if he thinks he's been doing a good job, then there's no need to replace him. Can you imagine your boss coming to you and saying, hey, thanks for the job you've been doing, but it's time for the third shmuck from the left to have a chance at bat"? Would you not immediately file a suit for wrongful dismissal?
And he's forming a "personnel committee" of his SUPPORTERS? Who the hell are these people to be making personnel decisions for this City? And he wants to protect these people, so he's not disclosing their names? Well, guess what? I'm a taxpayer, and I have a right to know who these people are who are helping our "mayor" make such an important decision. And no axe to grind? I'm guessing Marchese must be one of these "citizen advisors", and he has a very big axe to grind.
Disappointing doesn't even begin to describe it, Emile. Disgraceful, disgusting, beyond the pale, ludicrous . . . the adjectives to describe the current administration are endless, and none of them flattering.
