It is me...or was the list of heads that will roll as a result of a new administration being voted in...kind of gross? NOt that the Independent has ever been worried about being crass, but do you think it's right to have these people paraded about this way? Is this the kind of government that we want....where "the spoils of war" include degrading people by announcing their firing in the newspaper?
No thanks. I thought John would have had more class than this.

None of the three Everett papers has ever had a great concern for the feelings of others. That being said . . . it would've been nice if Hanlon had actually spoken to these people before speculation about their futures was splattered in the newspaper.

I am just wondering as far as I know there was no mention of people leaving as of yet so I wouldn't read to much into it. We don't know lizbeth if that as happen, I just think its for good reading and getting feathers in a uproar. |

No, it doesn't say people are "leaving." It speculates on people who will be "gone." That doesn't make it any less difficult for the people's whose jobs are in question.
The column says that Hanlon will be asking for everyone's resignation when he officially takes office and that most of those resignations will be accepted. How does Resnick or Parziale -- whoever wrote the piece -- know this? Did Hanlon tell them as an aside in his more formal interview? If he did, it was irresponsible of him to tell that to a newspaper before having the courtesy of telling the people directly involved. If he didn't, it was irresponsible of the newspaper to print that as though it were fact.
If Hanlon wants to "heal the split" in the city, this is hardly the way to start. |

well like I said sometimes newspapers print things for good reading I wouldn't worry as of yet John is family man and I am sure if and when he wants people to leave he would do it more classy than to have it put in the paper. If I was mayor of a city I wouldn't put it in the paper. |

P-L-E-A-S-E! The independent does this crap for the very reason we are talking - They don't want to report NEWS, they want to BE news. Resnick is a shmuck. Face it - anyone who praises DeMaria, Matewsky and Marcus has real questionable judgment. Resnick is a joke, and his rag doesn't qualify as T.P. on a camping trip. Really, I'm surprised he hasn't predicted the demise of his competition. If I were a man, I'd love to knock him out. Oh, well. I suppose he wishes he were a man too.

What does John being a "family man" have to do with this? We all have families.
This is the politics of payback - of revenge, and your family man is making sure these people have a very public execution. Wicked - you're absolutely right about the Independent. No journalistic integrity there. When they drill down on a story, they only go as far as Fred tells them. REmember the slush fund that Josh tried to sell as a trust fund?
The comments after some of the names had a distinct "Fred" feel to it. I'd love to know what Joe Morello ever did to these people, unless Don Andrew (remember him - our former auditor who went to work for Fred) wants his head on a platter. Kind of like Herod's wife... |

Well, I have an ax to grind with Fred, and my good friend just issued the first shot across the bow. We are starting with a simple complaint with the DOE for non-compliance and failure to provide services. Anyone else know people who have kids who have had services denied to them? There is a possibility to file a class action suit. I will post additional topic. |

My information is John Hanlon did not release that list to the newspaper. The Superintendent released the information to Resnick. Shortly after the newspaper came out, Freddie was called to the city clerk's office for a closed door meeting with John Hanlon. John Hanlon was quite angry about that information being released because there is a possibilty that some people on that list will not be affected.
The asst city clerk was telling people that Hanlon had nothing to do with the newspaper info, that it was Freddie who released the info.
I guess we know who's running things now.....Just as I predicted.

Curious to see reaction from the other two papers this week.
I hear that Domenica D'Angelo will be back as treasurer/collector.

FFF has been dominating and manipulating people for years. His strong personality will overwhelm Mr. Hanlon.
Politics is nasty business.

I agree H1. It makes very strange bedfellows. Of course Fred needs a stepladder to get into bed, probably.lol |

Perhaps Mayor elect Hanlon should take a firm stand with his friends at the Independent as well . . . just because FFF fed Resnick this information doesn't mean he has to print it. But he'll do whatever Freddie tells him to do because there's a possibility of significant ad money behind him. And that's the bottom line for all three of our local "newspapers." They don't care about the news or the truth or anyone's reputation . . . they sell their souls to the highest bidder.
