Just saw part of a "hard hitting" interview on ECTV -- Robert Van Campen interviewing John Hanlon. Michael Marchese is the city's new "quality control manager"? And when Van Campen asked the Mayor if this was a new position, the Mayor said, "well, it is and it isn't." Reminiscent of Bill Clinton saying "it depends on what your definition of the word 'is' is."
Michael Marchese as a quality control manager? Is this the same Michael Marchese who "didn't know" that drug were being sold out of his bar?
You can't make this stuff up.

"well, it is and it isn't"
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.....well you know how that goes....
of course it's a new position, try to find that one on last years payroll....it isn't there....
Maybe Marchese was doing the "quality control" on the drugs.....
This administration is a big lie.....What a disgrace for the City....

Are you shocked, Emile? This administration is not about teaming, good management or best practices. This administration was about taking out Ragucci and now that they've done it...they really have no plan of action. There's not an executive in the bunch...we have a clerk, led by a bar owner and an indicted school superintendent with a history of mismanagement and incompetence. Were you really expecting anything different? |

Court, your comments are concise and accurate.
I'm waiting for someone in the new administration to recognize their deficiencies and take appropriate action , and waiting, and waiting, and waiting....
We on this post think that this will be a one term administration, but the voters will re-elect him if he runs again.....
The voters bring this upon themselves and they have no idea what they've done....

Emile, my friend, don't hold your breath waiting for this to happen. Mr. Open Door Policy doesn't return phone calls to the media, refuses to name the people on his "personnel committee made up of political supporters," and creates a plum position for one of his biggest supporters, and can't comment on one of the biggest scandals this city has ever seen - the Everett School Department. Did you see Alan Lupo's column today? Everett's becoming synonymous for corruption. The start of "something better" only means something better for the Hanlon-Marchese-Foresteire-Ravanesi crowd, not the taxpayer. |

I thought Ravenesi lived in Florida - what's going on with him, last time I checked, he was not a citizen of Everett anymore... let alone a big player in Everett politics - enlighten me someone, please |

I believe Mr. Ravanesi "winters" in Florida . . . but he's still very much part of the scene, particularly now that his candidate is in the corner office (again). Sunshyne, did you not see all of the post election photos of the Mayor-elect with his crew-- Ravanesi, Marchese, etc.? Ravanesi has a good deal of influence over the new Mayor, as do Marchese and the Superintendent.
It's only a matter of time before it all implodes on Hanlon . . . let's just hope the city can survive the blast . . .

Does anyone know whether the Mayor's "private personnel committee" has made any decisions on the Police Chief? Or better yet . . . does anyone know who's on this "private personnel committee"? |

I don't think it is actually a formal committee.....probably the same people on the transition team and a few other "old cronies"....If so, why is it a secret?
Maybe it doesn't exist at all, just an excuse for him not to make a decision....
Kind scary, Huh?

Indeed it is, Emile.
Also keep in mind that the appointments of the City Solicitor and the City Auditor will be coming up soon. Remember . . . the current city solicitor Mr. Kryzovic and city auditor Mr. Andrew were only supposed to be interim appointments. Anyone want to take bets on how long the "interim" is going to be? |

I don't live in Everett anymore, so no I didn't - that's one name I NEVER thought I would see in Everett politics again - does he still wear those ridiculous tinted glasses? |

Indeed he does, Sunshyne, but in fairness, I understand he does have some sort of trouble with his eyes.
But he is back if, indeed, he ever left Everett politics.

Oh, Ravs is a "survivor," and will always be around the next big thing, hoping for a larger and larger feed at the public trough.
And what is the deal with making Krysovic the actual city solitor? The man can only work part-time, just like Don Andrews. So because John's hiring retired guys, we're going to have a part-time government? Actually, with Krysovic, it will be a quarter time government, because the guy doesn't exactly like breaking a sweat to begin with.
Executive decisionmaking based on people's pensions...not on city needs. |
