Traffic concerns [taken from my blog at You must be logged in to see this link. ]

You know it still bothers me to no end that the Broadway traffic is so horrific every morning. Even on Veterans Day, it was backed way up the hill. For this reason, you should all know that if you are coming from Norwood street, turn right right as you pass the Grace Episcopal Church onto Winthrop Street and then take the immediate left onto Tufts, heading down past the park towards St. Michael's. That will bring you up to a three street merge with Oakes (on your right) and School street (across to the left). When school children are walking to school, there is a one way sign there and you have to go to Main Street, but on weekends and holidays, you can jog over to the left and turn right down School Street. Then, just take your next left and you will be on Broadway, bypassing all of the traffic before the rotary. The one way sign is also not there as of 6 to 7:30 AM on workdays, so for those of you that are early risers, it saves at least 10 minutes of time and aggravation if you are commuting towards Boston.

By the way, what is up with people turning left from Chelsea Street onto Broadway at Everett Square when the light is GREEN for cars coming from directly across from Norwood Street!? There really needs to be an arrow there! I often find myself coming from Norwood Street trying to go to Stop and Shop by way of Chelsea St and I can't get across because of the left turning cars blocking the darn way! You all know who you are :) In any case, I have love for everyone, but you sure stretch it thin when you cut me off like that. And Please people, if you see me in my white Chrysler T & C trying to get through, let me past. That light is too long as it is....

Mike,
I am probably one of the most impatient, borderline rude, aggressive drivers on the road. Being a better driver and giving up profanity are 2 areas I have failed at miserably - I will avoid cutting you off, but no guarantees to anyone else.

I heard this morning as I was down the square that there is a sea of Orange out on cars. I was glad to hear it and I hope they keep it up.

Do you know what streets are getting hit? I haven't caught a paper yet. Is it published? ("pharse" was that a typo or a freudian slip!)

They usually give a letter to the business owners and residents detailing the phase they are in. It comes from the city, so I bet city hall would give out the information if asked. Actually, I think if they wanted to be really up front about the phases, they should put it on the city website. When they did Waverly street I learned about the phase coming before mine by reading a discarded letter that blew from up the street. We actually got the letter like 48 hours in advance when they did our street. I'm glad I had seen it so I knew what to expect.
