I agree, from a tax perspective, a warehouse is one of the worst possible scenarios. They generate very little tax revenue because they have no capital assets such as machinery to assess and tax. Also, if Restaurant Depot is simply moving from Chelsea to Everett there will be NO new jobs. Will will see some short term revenue with building permits but nothing long term. Does anyone know if Restaurant Depot is a good corporate neighbor?
Tails did a good job getting the scoop on this latest saga. I am one who also blames DeMaria for most of this city's problems with Wood Waste. One of the very few issues I agreed with Hanlon was his unwillingness to give Thibeault what he wanted. I was never totally convinced that the original purchase and sales agreement was still in effect.
I also know as fact, before the last campaign for mayor Thibeault approached McGonagle with a monetary offer. All McGonagle had to do was to get Thibeault what he wanted. McGonagle told Thibeault where he could stick his money. Thibeault told McGonagle he would get another candidate to run and make him the same offer. I can't tell you what happened after that but I do have my own personal opinion.
I feel like the city just got royally screwed and DeMaria did the screwing not Thibeault.
