Man struck & killed on Rt. 93 Man killed walking on Rt. 93 in Wilmington

(myfoxboston) - According to the Massachusetts State Police, an adult male was struck and killed on Rt. 93 after walking into the right-middle travel lane.
The victem was operating a 2003 Mazda Minivan on Route 93 North in Wilmington near exit 39 (Concord Street) when he parked in the breakdown lane and exited his vehicle.
After the victim exiting the car he entered into the traveled portion of the roadway and was struck in by a Tractor Trailer operated by 35-year-old Leonardo Fajardo of Everett.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Lahey Clinic in Burlington where he was later pronounced dead.
Fajardo was transported by ambulance to Winchester Hospital with minor injuries.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
The Wilmington Fire Department and MassHighway assisted Troopers at the scene.
Due to the crash investigation and vehicle removal, the two right northbound travel lanes were closed for approximately two hours.
