Came across this and wanted to congratulate the former VSO of Everett, Walter Rice. I heard he had a higher position but this is what he loves to do. Great man and Everett's loss is Natick's gain. Good luck Mr. Rice, you deserve to be treated with respect and I hope you have it in Natick.
Rice appointed interim Natick veterans agent:
NATICK - The Board of Selectmen today appointed Walter Rice as an interim replacement for John MacGillivray, the town’s veterans agent, whose last day was Sept. 18.
MacGillivray, who held the post in Natick for 18 years, left Natick to work as the veterans agent in Newton, the city in which he grew up. Moira Munns, the director of the Human Services Department and the Council on Aging, had filled the position in Natick until the selectmen appointed a longer-term interim.
White said Rice, of Everett, was recommended by the Massachusetts Department of Veterans Services.
Rice, a 1974 graduate of Weymouth North High School and Air Force veteran, worked as the Commissioner of Veterans Services in Everett from 2006 to 2008 and is currently the veterans case manager for the Veterans Northeast Outreach Center at the Bedford Veterans Quarters.
