I saw this on Topix and although I don’t usually take what’s said there for word, I found this interesting.

There is a Finance Committee meeting tonight at City Hall in the Council chambers at 6:00pm to discuss spending money to have the retaining wall repaired at Florence St. Park. The interesting thing is that Rosa DeFlorio is the co-chairman of that committee. It should be real interesting to see how she plays her involvement on this issue seeing as it appears that her husband is getting the unbid contract. This is not a televised meeting so attendance is required to enjoy the show.

How can Rosa co-chair a meeting having to do with work her husband will be performing? Unless, she can because the job has not been publicly awarded to anyone yet. That is all I can think of.

Don't forget. The appropriation for restoring the personnel director position is also on the agenda at tonight's Finance Committee meeting.

Well that makes this even more interesting. I also noticed that both these items will be in front of the Alderman on Monday night.

As for the story about Rosa DiFlorio’s husband being awarded this bid, I can’t see it how it can be done, legally anyway. I would think it’s a conflict of interest to award a bid to a city employee. I would imagine you would have to be bonded with the city and most importantly, licensed and insured. Seeing their current financial situation (which I am not knocking) it’s been in the papers……..I just don’t see that either.

As for the Personnel Director (if it's the same person who's been rumored to be hired) there have been so many foul-up’s and incompetent hires already, and political favors with taxpayer dollars. Isn’t it time to stop the embarrassment and the mayor should start living up to HIS word........"Gone are the days"

I agree 100% Tails. I'm also curious as to when Rosa's husband would be performing the work...............

The Personnel director is a major cluster! If he puts Joanne Gregory in that position, he's even more of a fool than I thought!

I'm not sure why he thinks he can continue to do this crap and not have it come back to bite him in the butt. He may be getting a free ride this election but I don't think he'll get away with it again. A blank vote on November 3rd is a vote of no confidence. Let's show him what we really think and let potential candidates see the possibilities.

I am hearing the mayor and Joanne are at odds and her job is now on hold. Of course this is unconfirmed.
