What happened on Elm Street last night?
Street was yellow taped off and a lot of cruisers down there.
I was just reading on Topix and they are posting it was a serious car accident. A young man was crossing Elm St, near the rec, and was struck by a truck.

An Everett hometown hero who was featured in Sports Illustrated after he sank two free throws to give his high school basketball team the Greater Boston League title is now drawing on his fighting spirit after being critically injured by a pickup truck Friday night.
Sean Cronk’s mother said she is touched by the outpouring of support for her 20-year-old son, who is in the intensive care unit at Massachusetts General Hospital.
“He was almost dead. I said,‘Well he’s a fighter.’ They said,‘No kidding. He’s a miracle,’” said Cathy Cronk.“When he came back to us I said,‘That is my Thanksgiving.’”
Cronk, who has cerebral palsy, was vaulted to celebrity in 2007 after his precision free throws gave the Crimson Tide the win over Peabody in the title game. The cerebral palsy hampers Cronk’s ability to run, but he made the varsity team the day before the title game because of his free throw skills.
He was crossing Elm Street after playing basketball at the Everett Recreation Center at about 7:30 p.m. when he was struck by a pickup truck outside the police station, said Police Chief Steven A. Mazzie.
A passenger in the pickup truck ran into the station to notify officers, Mazzie said. The driver, Anthony Hill, 19, of Tewksbury, was issued a civil citation for failing to slow down for a pedestrian, he said.
“(Cronk) is a well-known young man. He’s obviously overcome some obstacles in his life and we’re hoping that he’s going to overcome this one,” Mazzie said.
Cathy Cronk said her son suffered a brain injury and bleeding, has a broken pelvis and has lacerations on his face.
Despite his injuries, Cronk is talking and asking when he can get back to the basketball court.
“He wants to play basketball,” said Cronk, whose son is an assistant coach at Bunker Hill Community College.“‘He said,‘I got to go to a game. I got to coach.’ Those are good signs.”
