WCVB and CNN (via WCVB) are reporting that there is a major water leak in Weston. The MWRA has issues a 'boil water' status for many cities including Everett.

Are you saying the Board of Health told them to shut down and they did not?
If they were told to close by the Board of Health and ignored it, then that's a problem. The Board of Health should be there right now. Your not even supposed to wash dishes until the boil order is over. Your supposed bring the water to a fierce boil. No dishwasher is that powerful.
If establishments are open, they should not be serving soda, water, etc from a glass until the boil order is over either.
Anyway, between spring cleaning and yard work I never put my TV on and was grateful for the phone call. |

The call was from the Mayor's office and I think I know where you are going.
I heard that reverse 911 was down, and unable to reach everyone. That said, it was not a “do not use” order, it was a “boil order” and running 24/7 on all the local networks as what to do.
Check on your family members, especially the elderly, even if you have not spoken with them in a while. It’s not like we do not have bottled water or we can’t use it, just take the extra step and bring it to a rapid boil. As for reverse 911, the chief was given stimulus money and perhaps he can use some of that to straighten out whatever problem it is.
Yes, a reverse 911 call should have happened (that’s why we have it) but I would like to hear from Chief Mazzie why it was not used and what he’s going to do in the future to rectify the problem. This city defiantly needs a working reverse 911 system.
I know that nothing on earth is perfect, but my only issue was (my opinion) the word could have gotten out there a little better on a city level to reach everyone, and lets hope it’s over today.

I received a reverse 911 call this morning. It was to inform residents that free water will be given out behind Target at the Gateway Mall starting at noon today and lasting until the water runs out. You must bring proof of residency in the City of Everett. |
