Logically, I just don't get. There's no need for it. Councilor Napolitano filed for reconsideration two days after the last meeting; so why an almost identical piece?
Why? Politics, of course. Time to put on my spectualtion hat; I'm usually wrong, but what the heck? The way I see it playing out, reconsideration fails on item #7, so only #17 comes to the floor. This allows the Mayor's supporters to speak first on the piece. Even though this is my scenario, the question I'd have is should a nearly identical piece to one that is already in committee be allowed to come to the floor?
With the way that this is playing out already, there's little doubt that this issue will become political. Therefore, after his speech of a couple of weeks ago, I'm disappointed that the Council President is a co-sponsor of item 17.
A couple of weeks ago, I expressed the opinion that committee was the best place for this item. I haven't changed my mind on that. |

As for the 6:45pm Medal of Valor Recipient Presentations…I think that’s great, the officers certainly deserve it.... but it’s OLD news and nothing but a photo op for the mayor on election year. Should have been done long ago. One was 13 months ago and the other was 9 months ago.
Three Everett Police Officers are to be awarded the department’s highest honor on Monday at the City Council Meeting, at Everett City Hall. Officer Richard DiTrapano, Officer Daniel Tucker, and Officer Thomas Leyne will be presented the Everett Police Department Medal of Valor. DiTrapano and Tucker are to be awarded for their actions that led to the capture of an armed suspected wanted for an armed bank robbery from the Everett Co-Operative Bank at 419 Broadway and attempted car jacking that took place on August 31st, 2010.
Leyne is to be awarded for his actions that led to the arrest of two suspects wanted in for a bank robbery from the Century Bank at 1763 Revere Beach Parkway on January 6th, 2011. Please join us Monday evening at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers at Everett City Hall to honor these officers.
I see two companies that work or are contracted with the city making donations??? And, large donations….
I also see under new business that Rosa DiFlorio wants to have 24/7 residential parking and meters in the business districts??
I’d love to see 24/7 residential parking too, but it’s just not going to happen and is a waste of time. Who would enforce something like that? I bet if her business was still on Main Street rather than her back yard she would not be in favor of meters on the business districts. Lets keep hurting the business….another mouthpiece for the mayors dirty work. |

You're right Tails. 24/7 residential parking can't happen without additional enforcement with an increased price tag. But 24/7 resident only parking probably also means either exempting certain streets/portions of streets in business zones from the requirement or, to avoid the problem of all day parking in those exempted business zones, the introduction of parking meters in those business zones.
BTW, I noticed today that some of the parking meters had finally gone in down at the Spring Street lot.

A0152-11 Order/s/Alderman Michael K. Marchese, as President To transfer $300,000.00 from the Stabilization Account into the Engineering Services - Streets & Roads Account. This is for the design of Beacham Street. (Passed sent down for concurrence)
So if I understand this right, there is nothing coming out of Ed Markey's office for this project, due to a hault of federal money earmarks. So does this mean taxpayer monies again? |

I think the Beacham St project is being paid via grant funds.

Did you all know that Rosa held a phone bank to get the councillors to go against anyone who wanted to send the insurance piece to any committee or however they wanted to do it?
Whose bed does she sleep in now? Maybe she is holding Carlo's hand at the Mass General now.
I hope the unions take this to court why would I trust anyone Carlo picks for the 3 person panel.
Cha Ching Cha Ching it will cost taxpayers in Court
