I am very concerned about the fact that the mayor hired a code enforcement secretary to run our 911 communications center, a secretary who knows nothing about the operations of a 911 center.. From what I am hearing she has caused a lot of trouble, Harassing the dispatchers . I understand she cannot stand up for them bearing in mind she knows nothing about the job. She has embarrassed and humiliated and violated there contract over and over again. We have experienced dispatchers that answer are calls everyday I have great faith in them for they saved my husbands life. That is why when I hear the rumors going around the city of her coming in and trying to discredit them I have to speak out . There has been a vote of no confidence sent to the Mayors office addressing there concerns about her actions however the Mayor has ignored this situation and puts it in the hands of the personell director who I hear was escorted out of his previous job in Framingham. What was the issue there and why do we have him in Everett. Who is running the city ???????
Sincerely a concerned citizen Speaking out for the 911 Dispatchers
taking from another forum.
I can only hope that the BOA get to the bottom of this

I read that over on that other forum too. I haven't heard anything about this situation at all. I have no idea if it is true or not. Does anyone have any information on this? |

Massdee you might of been away for the holidays. I don't work here but my friends do it was a vote of no confidence for the director. There are several people who are out on paid leave and it's just not fair. |

Are these people out on paid leave, out on sick leave? I don't understand what the problem is. |

This is absolutely true. The Mayor hired a secretary to run the 911 Center. This position needs someone who is familiar with the job not how much money is donated to a campaign by her husband or how she dresses.. It is a disgrace that a no confidence vote was delivered to the Mayor over two weeks ago and still nothing has been done to address the concerns of the staff at 911. The director has violated dispatchers rights and their contract as well. I have heard outside council is being sought by two dispatchers. This director plays favoritism to dispatchers that keep her updated on the goings on in the 911 center |

I also read this on the other forum & it really doesn't tell us anything. Is the problem the director, the extra work required because people are out on "paid leave?", or is it just sour grapes?
I have no idea whether the problem at 911 is real or not but I've been in the work force long enough to know how people respond when a new manager is put in place. As far as the vote of no confidence goes, it carries no weight at all. Do they really think the mayor will replace her because they don't think she's qualified & don't like her? If it was that easy our police chief would have been replaced years ago, Brian Zaniboni (sp?) wouldn't have lasted 20 minutes, & the whole country would be in complete chaos!
Like it or not, this is no different than your child coming home & telling you their teacher is mean............ There's a reason the tail can't wag the dog! |

I've been asking around, and I guess there are some major problems down at 911. From what I have heard, it should be playing out shortly. I assume it will all become public information then. |

Frustrated,
Good luck getting any of the local papers to print anything that might embarass the administration.
Massdee,
Things may change at 911 but I doubt that the real reasons for it will ever become public information. |

Tetris,
I hope you are wrong on this one. I think the residents should know what goes on with the city employees. After all, we pay all their salaries, including the mayor. Of course, in the past, there were issues we never informed about. Let's hope history doesn't repeat it's self.
I think if I was an employee down there, I would contact every CC and BOA member and make sure they know what is going on and ask them to place the issue on the agenda. It sure would get out to the public then. |

I'm hearing some of it is contractual. I don't know any particulars as of right now. I have also been told outside legal counsel has been obtained by some down there. |

Just another perfect example of:
"Gone are the days," he said, "when the city employees are hired because of their acquaintances instead of their qualifications." |
