I have not been out here in quite some time and when i came back i was miffed to not see any postings on the passing of Dan Ross. I did not know Danny personally but i am good friends with a member of his family. They say you do not really comprehend the accomplishments of a person until they are gone which is unfortunate. But in Dan Ross the City of Everett has truly lost a giant. To put it into perspective, there have been 40 Superbowls in the history of the NFL, and in each of those games there was a member of each team who performed at such a level to be named MVP. Dan Ross was one of these select few. Considering the fact that in high school he played on a team that very rarely if ever threw the ball makes his accomplishments even more astonishing. But more importantly Mr. Ross was a man who never forgot where he came from and was always accomodating when his city called on him. My sincere condolences to the Ross Family, and for you to take comfort in the fact that he will never be forgotten. PAUL D. DOBBINS
I believe that a plaque or some sort of memorial to Dan at Everett Stadium would be a fitting tribute. Unfortunately in Super Bowl XVI it was Joe Montana and not Dan Ross who was named MVP. Dan holds the record for most receptions in a Super Bowl at 11 with Rice and Branch, and had the Bengals won he would have surely been named MVP. There is a scholarship fund setup in his name at the Everett Coop.
