It is a sad day in the City of Everett. One of our Recreation Leaders Mr. Bill Bowdridge has resigned due to Health Issues. In the short time he spent at the Recreation Center he has made a huge impact on our children. The programs introduced, the bad apples removed and safety restored, the appearance with the new banners, (which brought in a healthy revenue) and so much more. He will be dearly missed and appreciated for all he has done. I just hope for my kids as well as the community that whom ever fills those shoes can keep the trend of positive growth going. Thank you Bill for everything.

Lynda - there's a story going around about missing money from the rec center. Do you know anything about that? |

The number is 10,000.00 and I would not assume Mr. Bowdridge took any of that until the facts come out. Obviously there are issues all over this city with cash missing and it all did not happen in the last year. Let's not point fingers at anyone.

All I am saying is that the timing is interesting. Mr. Bowdridge suddenly has a heart condition at the same time an investigation ensues. I also heard that there was perfectly good equipment sold, too...and the money no where to be found. |

I'll back up Lynda. Those that know Bill know he has a preexisting heart condition. |

isn't it amazing that since this all happen with bowridge how many new people posted their names on this blog and lynda comes out of the blue.. who never post before... what does that tell people... bowdridge got caught accept the responsibility and move on in life we all know he is sick and hopefully this will not put him over the edge.. it's not my fault equipment (expensive) was giving away.. it's not my fault an undercover officer posed as a vendor.. it's not my fault money is missing... move on people let the facts come out and speak for themselves and then when it hits the paper we can all come back and discuss it. |

I never was too sure about the new people running the rec after they gave away /sold the skate park equipment. There was never a good reason for that and I thought the horror stories were made up or at least embellished. Just because they were not football or basketball players does not matter. They are kids who live in this city and their parents pay taxes. I hope the stories are not true but it is a bit suspicious. This city is in the toilet with all these people in positions they are not qualified for, like the girl who just graduated high school and dates a gang member from the blue house on Ferry Street, gets a cushy job in City Hall!!!! Her father cannot even figure his job out yet!!! It really is sickening.

Who accepted blame for something they did not do?? You were the one saying Bill Bowdridge is an innocent man.

Jane it really shouldn't amaze you too much that there are new people on this blog. Living in and being from Everett I search the web very often to see what is being said and what is going on. I found this site by accident and I realize now what an accident it was. There are very few people who belong to this particular blog and now I know why. Usually I go to the Everett Mirror blog which I find informative, not a bunch of chickens cackling. Question... why should ANYONE except responsibility for something that they didn't do? Would you?
I for one would like to welcome you Lynda. I don't think its too fair to compae us to the Mirror though. The Mirror is a blog with an editorial agenda. That is, they get to direct the commentary more or less by posing an article. No one else can post a new topic. That is why they call it a blog. It is an excellent community blog (superior to mine due to the number of informed authors)
This, however, is a forum. Anyone can post new topics so multiple conversations can happen simultaneously and are easy to follow and restart due to the headings and hands off attitude of the moderator (myself). This is the only game in town when it comes to forums, and since you found it accidentally, I think a lot more people will be logging in the near future and the cackling will start to become more audible. Just you watch as the next mayoral election approaches. I can't wait.
As for Bill, I am sorry to see him go. I don't know about the skate park equipment except I was puzzled as to its removal and didn't agree with the hype the city was putting out about the danger. Bill was a good man and helped me and my sister out a good bit when we needed adult programs. Hopefully, the youth program will keep running smoothly without him. He was a force in that area. I wish him the best in his future endeavors/retirement.

Good day people. Did ya miss me? I am back to say that Bill is one of the most upstanding people I have ever met. He was able to accomplish in 10 months what the previous director couldn't do in 10 years. Bill's only problem was that he cared for the kids of this city.
He started programs for the kids that were either free or of little cost. How did the other directors do? Can anyone tell me? There was no more "good old boy" mentality at the rec anymore. I was overjoyed to bring my kids to a place that catered to them and not just adults. This kind of muckraking is expected to be found at other blogs.

Jane. Don't bet me cause I am new! Just wanted to put my 2 cents in here. I don't believe that Bill has done anything wrong, I think everything he did was for the good of the children and our community. He was appointed this position and to the best of my knowledge he didn't go looking for this job, it came to him and he took the ball and ran to the goal post! He is the only one in my 52 years in this city that has made a difference. |
