There's someone named Maureen up there, but she works for (& is paid by) the school department, not city hall.

Then, what is she doing working at City Hall? This city is getting stranger and stranger.

Wait a minute . . . there's someone who works for and is being paid by the school department working in the budget director's office in City Hall? How can that be possible? They're two separate operations.

Doesn't sound quite right to me. I thought the school department had complete autonomy from city hall. Aldermen and Council cannot tell the dchool department what to do, so how can the school department have someone on their payroll working at city hall?

Well, the school department does have a history of having "retired" employees who have hit "their limit" of hours that can be worked - paid through "other mechanisms." Or this could be the final breakdown of anything resembling separation of city and schools - because Fred has finally taken over. Could his employee be taking over the budget office? Would anyone be surprised?
I thought not. |

Oh crap, Court, I didn't think of that. Imagine Freddy in charge of the city budget......next he will have central air in his house.

Sally, I know he got air conditioners, I was saying if he gets in charge of the city budget, he'll have central air put in.

Another thought: Janice Vetrano, our city budget director is "bad" with numbers. Perhaps Fred is sending over a little remedial help for Ms. Vetrano? Lessons in "Fred" math? One for me....one for you. Two for me....one for you...three for me.....one for you.
