This is kinda sad. I guess that Michael was right in not putting this section in the blog.
No one has anything to say about the others kids and their sports?
I personally don't have a child in anything till spring. But, come on now we have more than Football here, don't we?
I know that we are in Hockey, Basketball, Indoor Track season and whatever else I am not aware of.

Good for them! It's a shame that these kids don't get the same attention as the football program.

Not too many because they cannot compete until next year. They started practicing at the Parlin today. They had to wash the mats that have not been used in nine years! I did not relaize Everett used to have a wrestling team. They still have the headgear and uniforms. Mr. Cho, a new teacher at the high school is coaching them.

I just glanced through the "Leader Herald", not one thing in there on High School sports. I guess Lynda is right, only "football" counts in our fair city.

My daughter went to Everett High, graduated a few years ago. She is in college now. She was on the field hockey team, she was in drama and also in the band. If it wasn't for the band, nothing about anything she was involved in would have been in the paper. Things have changed though, they don't print about the band in the paper anymore. I have always said, since she was in junior high and on the swim team. The only sport that this town cared about was football.

EHS Boy's Basketball beat Arlington last night 54-48. I think with the win Everett is now tied for first place with Arlington. I think out of the three local newspapers The Advocate does the best job of high school sports coverage.

This tidbit was in today's Globe

Brian Emerson, a 6-8 , 215-pound junior center, was held to 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 blocks in Arlington's 58-54 loss to Everett Friday night. It was the first loss of the season for Arlington (10-1, 8-1). Emerson leads the Greater Boston League in scoring at 22.7 points per game.

Way to go Tide!

In the 1/31 Globe

Greater Boston: Somerville escaped from Everett with a 76-75 win on Pat Flanagan's two free throws with six seconds left. Flanagan and Tobin Pierre led Somerville (10-4) with 19 points each.

FYI, Flanagan is 6'8"!!!

2 in a row great job girls! I think that the Independent has done a pretty good job the last few weeks of covering boys and girls winter sports.
