Dozens of cities have parking bans and enforce them as a routine function of government. Why has the city of Everett had so much trouble enforcing something as simple as putting tickets on cars that are standing still for hours overnight, in a city about 3 square miles. The city fathers seem to have been working on this for 5 years or so. What makes it so difficult here, while others seem to be able to do it.
There are some cities that have no non resident parking all day, seven days a week, except for designated areas. Everett seems unable to enforce this law for 30 hours a week. What's the problem. |

Citizen Kane. I was there well before 11:30am. I am not saying that anyone there did anything disrespectful. I am saying that NO ONE was there in that office that day. AT ALL! There was at least a dozen of us just looking to get our stickers (which should be mailed out to us law abiding citizens) and someone, a woman, told us "Oh, sorry no one is in today to help you" Uh Hello. You want us to take the time to do this when like I said it should be mailed out, and No One is in today. There is a problem. |

there are only certain times you can get your stickers, I was watching channel 16 last nite and it is posted there and Friday is not one of them cause city hall closes so early, so I am sure if you go back this Monday you will see the table and the people there to help you, please remember to bring your old sticker or you won't get a new one |

This is ridiculous. I can't beleive we have to go down and pick it up in person. I have to take a day off to do it. Luckily, I got mine when I happened to have to take my son to a doctor's appointment back in December.

Did the new stickers start last night? I was just outside and noticed tickets on some cars on my street. First time I have seen tickets in a long time. I thought it didn't start until Midnight, Sunday. Maybe, they didn't have any sticker at all. I couldn't tell from my house. |

Why should tonight be any different than any other night? The only thing that has changed is the color & location. The police are still responsible for the ticketing & will probably do as poor a job as ever. |

I really cannot blame the police. I listen to the scanner often and they have a large number of calls. Very often you will hear them say they drove up certain streets and there were no violations, so that would mean they are looking for them. They do have to cut away for calls. The police are very busy in this city. I have nothing but praise for the amount of work they do. Now if this civilian parking program works things should improve.

You're right Sally, that came out all wrong. Parking violations aren't the priority for the police and they shouldn't be. There hasn't been any additional parking enforcement people hired and until that happens, ticketing will be hit or miss depending on what else is happening in the city.
I hope you husband is well soon. My prayers are with you. |
