It's very sad that people may be laid off, because they will be the innocent victims of the incompetence of the Hanlon administration. How many times can the city council bail these guys out before enough is enough?

I think that we have hit that "enough is enough" from our Council and I give them credit for putting up with as much as they did before they hit this point. |

Sorry, I don't have a lot of sympathy for someone who has been forced to leave this country! |

THIS IS JUST ANOTHER FORM OF BS ON JOE M PART, WHEN HE ANSWERS NO,TO EVERY PIECE OF BUSINESS HANLON OUTS ON THE CALENDAR, MAYBE THE GANG OF 4 PUT THERE MIGHT MOUSE ACT TOGETHER ON WHO WELL DO WHAT. THE PROBLEM IS SIMPLE:ALMOST EVERYBODY ON THE CC/ BOA / SC, CAN'T DO A DAMN THING BECAUSE THEY OWE SOMETHING TO SOMEBODY. ELDERLY MEMBERS WHO SHOULD BE HOME WATCHING TV,MEMBERS WHO COULDN'T WRITE NOR ARTICULATE AN INTELLIGENT SENTENCE,RAMBLE ON WITH THE QUESTIONS OVER AND OVER,I'LL BET YOU SOME DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE SOME STREETS ARE LOCATED. IT IS GASLY TO WATCH CH 15/16 EVEREYWEEK TO AMUSED OURSELVES. THE S/C JUST LOOK AT WHO IS EMPLOYED AT ANY GIVE TIME DURING THE LAST TWENTY YEARS. GOOD GOVERNMENT SIMPY DOES NOT EXIST IN THE CITY OF EVERETT. DON'T TELL ME WE'ER HERE FOR THE TAXPAYERS OR EVEN BETTER CONSTITUTES, MOST OF THEM COULDN'T SPELL THE WORD CONSTITUTE. THIS TOWN HASN'T HAD A STRONG MAYOR SINCE THE SEVENTIES, WHICH MOST OF YOU EITHER DON'T KNOW OR DON'T REMEMBER.

Well, Moonie, you just gave me my laugh for the night. You're actually commenting on someone else's ability to write/articulate an intelligent sentence? Take a look at your own rantings if you want an example of incoherent rambling. |

Hey, justme. I'm no fan of Hanlon for sure and I have to admit you have my curiousity piqued with the "forced to leave the country" quote. I don't know what that means but if it is not inappropriate to reveal here please clarify that one. If it's something that's a private family matter then keep it that way as you have but if it's common knowledge that I somehow missed then fill me in. |

What kind of powers does an acting Mayor have? |

Sorry MM, it's definitely not the right thing to do.
Actually massdee, I believe, in the absence of the mayor, the "acting" mayor has the same powers as the mayor. In the event something had to be done while Hanlon is out of the country, it would be Joe making the decision. |

If the posting I read on the Mirror is correct, the Mayor is in Washington, allegedly to get the money that the BOA denied him. Yeah . . . okay . . . that's a good one.
So . . . which is it, do you suppose? Washington or out of the country? Snoopy1, if you're reading this, since you're the one making claims about the Mayor being out of the country, perhaps you can shed some light on the subject. |

I respect your decision justme if this is not something that eveyone knows that only I missed. You're doing the right thing here by not reveling personal information. Good to see some still have a moral compass despite the opinion of a couple of others who think otherwise. |

Would'nt the mayor just come back and un-do whatever McGonagle did while he was away if he did'nt agree with the actions taken? We're just going to have to wait it out until the election in the fall. The voters will decide then if they want a continuation on this path or a new direction lead by another candidate. |

I don't think Joe (or anyone else in that position) can/will just go and take over, MM. I'm talking about an emergency situation and/or the very basic. If it were truly an "I'm in charge now" situation, no mayor would ever leave the city!!!
I saw that comment Citizen. I can't imagine anyone in Washington would even want to listen to the man, nor would they give him money. I just figured it was someone blowing smoke who thought the statement sounded good and doesn't know that's not how it works. Now, if it's true and he actually went there.....................we'll be the laughing stock of the country, not just the state!
