Court, once again I wish to say that even when you and I do not agree on an issue having you as a debate partner is a pleasure. You push me to gain more knowledge to support my opinions and as you well know "Knowledge is Power". Hopefully everyone here gains something from the exchanges we have had on this issue and others whether they fall on your side of the arguement or mine. I like having someone keep me on my toes and assist me in sharpening my skills. My hat is off to you sir.

It was my desire to leave religion out of the arguement entirely if possible. This not possible for many with deeply held beliefs and seeing the archbishop from Africa was mentioned I'll say this. The Bible is pretty clear on homosexuality. While church teachings would not have these members of society persecuted they also obviously do not recognize gay marriage in any way, shape or form. The archbishop from Africa best be careful here lest he be excommunicated. LOL

The reason I posted a clip from the interview was to acknowledge that major religions do support gay marriage. Archbishop Tutu is an Anglican Arcbishop - so think Episcopalian. He's not in any danger of excommunication, my friend. The church just ordained a gay bishop. And while that has set off the more conservative clergy, the fact remains that this church not only supports gay marriage but has ordained and raised to leadership a gay person.

Yeah, MIddleman - but the bible also acknowledged and pretty much condoned slavery, without the morally reprehensible practice. :) People do evolve.

Thank you for your kinds words, Middleman; I feel the same way. Worthy opponents are always welcome. Your willingness to engage on a tough topic is important to civil discourse.

I did get what you meant Court. I threw in the LOL at the end to try and make it apparent I was just trying to lighten things up a little after an intense debate. I'd like to let this one go for a while as long as you agree there is'nt much more either of us could add on the topic. We can just agree to disagree on the major point of the conversation and move on to other things. Agreed?
