It was good to see the Advocate stand up for Mr. DeCoste today. He needed to be publicly recognized for sticking his neck out on behalf of the taxpayers. I know he has the support of most the members here but its nice to see someone come to his defense in the local print media. |

Wow ! Is that "editorial" in todays Dependent something or what? There's a lot of wild accusations and innuendos in there. I'll say this, if the mayor and this rag of a newspaper prove to be correct about the previous administration, I and many others will have egg on our faces. "All roads lead to Stoneham. At least that's where the law people would like the investigation to go." Where does Redneck get this information? If this latest so called investigation turns out to be just a tempest in a teapot as the rest of the FBI boogeyman stories all have before, these people should be sued for libel and defamation. They'll go to any lenghths to provide a smokescreen of cover for the incompetence of the past 18 months. The investigators better hurry and do something. Nobody is buying the bought and paid for coverage in the Everett Independent anymore. |

I'd say it was written by the same person who writes honest john's speeches. You know the ones I mean........ The missing 5 million dollars and The budget isn't in violation of prop 2 1/2?
Obviously they're trying hard to take the focus off the mess hanlon has created with the budget.(In case you're wondering, I've decided he doesn't deserve caps anymore) What better way than to divert our attention and make us question David? Frankly, I don't buy it. We've heard about the FBI since David took office (I think McCarthy started it originally), and every election thereafter. Now hanlon's using it again so we'll forget that's he's screwing around with the budget, has spent all our money, shows nothing but disrespect for the CC, BOA, and the Taxpayers, is doing whatever the hell he wants, and, to make matters worse, he's getting away with it!
Tomorrow's meeting should be interesting. I can't wait to see what the CC does with the budget and to hear what hanlon has to say. That is, of course, if he bothers to show up! |

I think it is important for us to attend the CC meeting tomorrow night. The budget, as it stands, cannot pass. We must show our support for the CC and let hanlon and the rest of his administration know that we have had enough. |

Justme, I think you are right about the same person writing that stuff in the Independent and the Hanlon presentation. I think the same person writes for Mr. Foresteire also. |

What time is that meeting tonight? I'm sure it will be over very quickly. |

The meeting is at 7:00 p.m. tonight. I believe it is important for us to attend and show the CC that we do not want this large budget. If you think our tax increase was high last year, it will almost double if this budget passes without any cuts. No matter how it is handled, our beloved City is in serious trouble. Please do your best to attend or make a quick phone call to your Council Person telling them to reject the budget. |

Was it really necessary to have an 8 page supplement in the Independent today about the opening of the new high school? Wonder how much that cost. It appears that some of it was offset by selling ads (Stat Smith!?), including a full page to the city. I'm assuming the city paid for it since there was no disclosure that it was paid for by the mayor's re-election committee. I'm sorry but the tone of that page seemed to be too political for the taxpayers to be paying for. |

The previous administration has been getting blamed for a lot of things. It's too bad that doesn't work both ways since the previous administration is responsible for the high school. |

Yeah know... A good point was brought up to me today. Anyone who reads just the Everett Rags and not the blogs and such will probably vote for Hanlon not knowing any better. If you don't watch the meetings to see the real Hanlon how are they to know? Especially if they are not homeowners and haven't been hit with these outrageous tax bills. |

Lynda, I really hope that would never happen. I doubt this city would withstand two more years of this administration. I think the people who vote are well aware of what is going on in this city. |
