I got a recorded call from Mr. Baldi at the High School. They are in a lockout and the DA and State Police are conducting a search with dogs going class to class and sniffing backpacks and pocketbooks and lockers. They say it is random, but do you think the DA and State would be involved if it were random? I would like to see more security such are metal detectors up there, but scaring the kids all the time and not telling them why they are in a lockout is not the way to go. The kids are scared and wondering what is going on.

from bostonchannel.com
BOSTON -- Everett police and 10 other local and county police agencies swept through Everett High School to look for drugs and weapons Wednesday morning.
The search followed the arrest last week of a 14-year old boy, who police said brought a BB gun to school.
In a statement, Police Chief Steven Mazzie said "Drugs and weapons are out there. We will do whatever it takes to ensure students, faculty and staff are in a safe learning environment."

The school administration will try to cover up any drugs or weapons found during this sweep.
This would be a typical response.
I hope Chief Maizzie makes the investigation results public, we all have a right to know what was discovered.
This should have happened a long time ago and should continue on a random basis.

My kids heard that only two kids were suspended from school. I am thinking the amount of what they may have found must have been very small. Supposedly a "roach" was found in a trash barell. I think kids who have drugs are smart enough to leave them at home. They know there are police in the school.

and then they had an ambulance up there for a drug overdose in the afternoon so tell me what did this prove? No matter what they do the drugs will come into any building at least they try but in my opinion not hard enough |

Sally,
You interestingly enough fail to mention why the two children were suspended.
Was it for drugs or weapons?
Or both?

The overdose was most probably from a kid who swallowed his/her stash when the cops arrived in the morning for the search.
It took a few hours for them to get sick.
Doesn't seem like rocket science to figure this one out.

Actually, one girl and one boy were suspended for fighting with each other. Seems the girl had enough and threw a book at the boy. So it was not related to the search. And the ambulance was for a teacher who fell ill because of a procedure he had done on a tooth. It looks like nothing was found in the school.

I heard the ambulance was there because of kids eating their stash when the K9s showed up and got sick. |

Gee Fran, That's kinda what I said yesterday.
Sally's spin sounds like a typical school department fairy tale. No offense Sally, I know you were just relating what was told to you.

Well Emile, without being too wordy I was trying to back you up. Also, regarding the kid with the BB gun, I heard it was the same kid you mentioned. While I don't agree putting his name out there it was a 14 yr old student and not some other 20 yr old. |

Fran, the first name of the kids she mentioned was wrong. And I heard the information from a firefighter about the ambulance at the high school.
