I almost went into cardiac arrest when I saw the damn thing! We need some tax relief, and we need it soon........ This latest increase can easily be the final blow to anyone struggling financially.

My mother always said what goes around, comes around. I hope she was right............... I want to see honest john hurting the way he's hurt so many of us!

And yet, we have 4 people who allege their tax bill increase was less than $100. How does that happen?

My guess is they're hanlon's people and they're [still] trying to cover his butt. My bill also went up 1k. There's no way there are homes with increases less the $100.

I don't see an exemption.......... Husband thinks we'll see it next quarter but I thought the point was to get it done for fiscal '08? This bill is for the third quarter. Having the exemption show up next quarter doesn't help anyone having a hard time financially......

I don't know if the assessment went up or not. I don't know what the assessment was last year and am too lazy to pull out the taxes to check!

I thought it was supposed to be reflected in this bill as well (to coincide with the rate increase), but I don't see it reflected on my bill, either. I was going to call City Hall and ask about it, but I figured it was best to wait until the initial rush of calls died down.

By the way . . . the two people who were best equipped to answer these types of questions are not in the Assessors' Office -- George Keverian and his assistant Linda. So good luck to us all.

My assessment went up, which I don't understand. We didn't do any work on the house and no one came by to reevaluate. I guess I am going to have to make some phone calls.

My home was assessed over the summer. Value went up $50,000.+ Think I could get on the Market what they are saying my home is worth!

I'm one of those that answered the poll with the modest decrease...our property is valued a good deal under the average of $340,000 for a single family home as it needs a good deal of work...obviously, we received the residential exemption as well. Not a Hanlon supporter...that's just the way that it worked out for us....sorry that it seems that so many others seem to have billing errors.

Tetris, was the 20% reflected on your bill? I couldn't find it on ours.

What is the cut off amount for the residential tax exemption? I am looking at two tax bills, the one I live in and the one I rent out, and it doesn't show up on either one of them. Of course, I know it doesn't apply to the rental home. I was just using the two bills to compare.
