I’m tired of all this snow but I’m also sick and tired of having a car I only see during snowstorms parked in front of my house, or my neighbors, for a week or so covered in snow. These cars have not only interfered with the plowing (Have you ever noticed how much longer your driveway gets when the plows have gone around a parked car?), they now interfere with any cleanup that may be done. I think it’s time for an ordinance requiring vehicles to be cleaned off and shoveled out within 48 hours. The official “end” can be designated as the end of the snowfall according to whatever weather service is considered official in the metro Boston area and/or the end of a declared snow emergency (whichever is later).
Maybe I’m just having a bad day, but I’m really tired of seeing cars that look like they’re abandoned because their owners are too lazy to shovel them out and move them.
Malden has an ordinance for shoveling sidewalks and vehicles. It is strictly enforced throughout the city. It seems to be working for them. Maybe the city council should take a look at their ordinance and fashion ours similarly.
