Gardner and Everett police are investigating a theft ring in north Central Massachusetts after Everett police arrested five people and recovered a car and many other items stolen from homes in Gardner and Ashburnham.
Gardner Police Lt. John Bernard said Everett police recovered an Audi on Wednesday that had been stolen Feb. 8 during a break-in at a home on the north side of Gardner.
During that Feb. 8 robbery, the black 2005 Audi, several electronics items, including three large flat-screen televisions, and a large amount of jewelry and silver goods were taken, and Everett police had received reports of five people involved in the sale of stolen merchandise.
Everett police arrested Justin Pini, 30, Anna Rizzo, 37, John Cataldo, 44, James Lever, 38, all of Everett, and Megan Linton of Charlton. Mr. Pini was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, receiving stolen property and possession of heroin. Ms. Rizzo was charged with carrying a firearm without a license and receiving stolen property valued over $250, and Ms. Linton was charged with receiving stolen property. Mr. Cataldo was arrested on three outstanding warrants, and Mr. Lever was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Police conducting surveillance at Mr. Pino’s and Ms. Rizzo’s residence on Elm Street in Everett saw the suspects bring a flat-screen television and a bag into the building. Undercover officers then arranged to meet them at a McDonald’s Café on Ferry Street in Everett. They were arrested after selling stolen property to the officers, and police went to the Elm Street residence and arrested Ms. Linton, Mr. Cataldo and Mr. Lever.
Along with the car, police recovered two handguns, a laptop computer, checkbooks and various other items believed to have been stolen in housebreaks in Gardner and Ashburnham.
