It’s funny that Sergio got credit for the Smart Cars. While I’m all for helping the environment, rumors around the hall are these cars break down all the time and the city is looking into purchasing Chevy Cobalts. People out there have smart cars... so you would think that if the cities are breaking down all the time, perhaps they are not being taken care of correctly. I think I would look into that before looking into spending more! |

Didn't Peter Napolitano looked "thrilled" last night? And had every right to be that way. Jason Marcus? Last endorsement I'd want for a job.
ECTV did their usual botch job on the festivities last night. The original broadcast of the BOA meeting didn't air until after Marchese was elected and they were part way thru the presentation to RVC. Didn't happen to catch the replay to see if it was OK. Also, why doesn't ECTV include a program schedule on their bulletin board anymore or post one on their web site on a regular basis? If you don't keep the EL-H around, you have no idea of when anything airs. |

You can clearly see how unfair and unbalanced the Common Council is. The uneducated are scared of the educated…..and that’s the problem. It’s all panning out exactly how Tony Ranieri said it would. Last year in their “illegal back room meeting” he said the line of order was Rosa, Serg, then him, and that info is on this site from a year ago to back up the back room meeting. As much as I disagree with everything the charter commission has done (which is not much) I’ll be supporting it because that’s how strongly I feel that it’s the only way to get rid of the entire unaccountable clan once and for all. I take no pleasure in saying that, because I think it’s sad and such a waste. |

Yes, unless it gets cancelled due to weather--which I doubt. |

Just for reference…. yet again. And for the record, I went to city hall to obtain a copy and was told I could not get one from the clerks office, that I had to get it from Carolyn, who does not work the hours I was there. There was a copy posted, in a glass case. IMHO, this is a nana nana boo boo to people that would like to see the agendas in advance, since this issue has been going on since the summer...and the same summer that all the prior agendas conveniently disappeared. There is 0 excuse for these not to be posted in a timely manner.

Meeting minutes aren't getting posted on a timely basis anymore either. But posting about these issues doesn't seem to have a lot of affect. Maybe when the city's web site doesn't win a Common Cause award this year, somebody will finally take notice and do something about it. Wouldn't hold my breath though. |

I'm in hopes the more noise made about this the better. I suggest calling or emailing our local elected officials and see if we can get the practice of posting the agenda's before the meeting occurs reinstated. It's a public service to those of us who can't get to city hall. |

This is something that has been going off without a hitch for many years.
I have contacted different elected officials and received different stories... so I knew what was being "fed" to them was BS. The only one that was trust worthy was back in September, and was told the city clerk was on vacation, and the agendas will be posted online when he got back. That happened successfully the following week, and that was it. He is a very busy man and that is not something he should be responsible for.
Since then, they have not been posted in a timely manner and my gripe is...What the heck is Matt Laidlaw doing that he's too busy to take 30 seconds out of *one* day a week?? We get plenty of PR for the mayor from him, so why cant he do "communications" a service, and put these up on the website the Thursday before the meetings? It's a win-win. Everyone's happy and can contact their elected official (if need be) and it looks like he is doing something. He certainly gets paid a pretty penny for being a PR person for the mayor. I also know the Everett City Council Office does not break a sweat, so between the "3" that I heard are responsible... it's not getting done. If someone complains that they don't know how to do it, or are unwilling to learn, that is incompetent and would be unacceptable to me. We pay these salaries and if we were not out working, their salaries would not get paid. If they don't like being a public service to the taxpayers/community, then they should quit and save us some money.

I absolutely agree with you, Tails. Where's the transparency? It really makes one wonder why they have changed this practice. The residents want this done, since we pay all their salaries, then it should be done. It seems like they get more pay for doing less. I get the impression the administration doesn't want the public to know what's up, so we CAN'T contact our elected officials on issues were find concerning.
In my opinion, just one more instance of acting like a petulant child. |
