Anyone know anything about a letter dated December 6, 2006 from the IG to Mayor Hanlon? The subject matter being more improprieties from the School Department and allegedly Mayor Hanlon choosing to ignore this letter.

From the Mirror: December 6, 2006. Keep that date in mind, Mr. Mayor. I'm sure it will come back to haunt you. That is, the fact that you did nothing with a letter with that date on it. Good luck. The Inspector G. | 04.12.07 - 6:55 pm

Okay Guys, Here is what I know.
The Inspector General sent a letter dated December 4, 2006 to Attorney General Tom Riley, District Attorney Martha Coakley, School Committee Chairman Alconada, and Mayor Hanlon. The letter stated wrong doings and misuse of the tax payers money in the Everett School Department By Fred Forestiere. FFF is in violation of many laws.
This information and the letter are PUBLIC INFORMATION. If anyone wants a copy of the letter contact the Inspector Generals Office and they will send it out to you. This letter is available to the public through the Freedom of Information Act. When asking for a copy you must give them the date, December 4, 2006.
The Inspector General is shocked that this mater has been ignored by Mayor Hanlon and the School Committee. The public needs to get involved so that Attorney General Coakley will begin a thorough investigation. This situation has been hidden under the rug since early December. I will be making a call on Tuesday to get my copy of the letter. I hope all who reads this post will too. I understand this letter is quite an eye opener. That's all I know for right now. When I know more I will update you.

The IG may be shocked that the matter has been ignored by Mayor Hanlon and Robert Alconada, to whom the letter was addressed, but it anyone is this city actually suprised that Mayor "Mr. Honesty and Integrity" Hanlon helped keep it under wraps? Mayor Hanlon owes Fred big for his razor thin election. Why else give them the school department more money for the all-day kindgergarten when the thing had already been funded in the fall?
Because Hanlon owes. Big time. His silence on Fred's misdeeds have their legacy in how Mr. Honesty and Integrity won that last race. With Fred's support.
What remains to be seen is whether the three newspapers will finally sit down and write this story. God know Resnek can't write it, co-opted as he is by this crowd. Maybe Augie Parziale can take a stab at it. I hope the Everett Leader stands tall on this one, too.

Thanks for the info. Do we really need to push them to investigate? That sounds a little strange. If there is someting going on they should investigate regardless. I will be calling for a copy on Monday.

I wonder if Leo McKinnon will get a copy of this signed letter and have it read at the Common Council Meeting. LOL |

Leo? Please. He fancies himself Mr. Law and Order, and then pulls that cheap crap with the anonymous letter on Lorrie Bruno to help Hanlon try to shut her up. I don't have a very high high opinion of the "gentleman." He's in with Hanlon and doesn't care what Fred does.

It appears that you are correct, although I hope not. He always seemed like a stand up guy. I cannot imagine him doing something to hurt someone else. But I have been wrong before.

Appearances can be deceiving, I guess. If he is a stand up guy, then he used very bad judgment in bringing that letter forward when there was absolutely no way to verify what was in it. It made it look like his intention was to embarrass one of his fellow council members. It was a disgraceful display that he and the Mayor put on, and neither one of them has had the guts to come forward and apologize to Councilwoman Bruno for trying to muddy her reputation. That's not being a stand up guy, in my book. |

As I have said before, I believe the whole thing was a set up by the Mayor and Mr McKinnon. It appears if you don't keep your mouth shut and just go along with the Administration........watch out. They will try to get you one way or the other. I also believe all this stuff going on is part of a smoke screen to keep the publics eye off the Inspector Generals letter. |

I agree, massdee. But it seems like that smoke screen is about to come crashing down on their heads. |

I truly hope so, Citizen. The people of Everett need to start demanding accountability from all of our elected officials. The outrageousness of this Administration needs to come to an end. I believe the final nail has been driven and their will be no return for Mayor Hanlon. |

I hope our local papers have the nerve to get a copy of this letter and print it in their newspapers so everyone has the opportunity to read it. Something needs to be done.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sick of paying these high taxes and having the money misused and spent needlessly by all of City Government, and that includes the School Department.
Fred received what seems to be less than a slap on the hand for the air conditioner fiasco and it appears he will do as he damn pleases.
From what I heard there is also something about the air conditioner issue in this letter from the IG. This letter needs to be made public. If anyone has a copy I hope they will post it. |
