Citizens For Everett Contact Us As of 03/24/09 the videos used on this website were NOT copyrighted by their sources. In today's Everett Independent there is an article titled: Mayor Confronts Allegations. Let us first state that this newspaper stating the our website was created to "smear Mayor DeMaria" is false. The Mayor does a great job on his own smearing himself. This website states facts using meetings and the Mayor's own campaign media not to mention official City of Everett records.
In this article the Mayor admits to using his office phone number in the calls. Which is a violation of State Ethics laws because his office staff is using public paid time to answer calls generated from a political advertisement, and this article also states the fact that the Mayor's Office is taking calls regarding this pamphlet.
Thank You for placing this article in your paper. We'll forward it on to the State Ethics Commission. Your Tax Dollars Hard at Work? April 21, 2009 is the first day to pull papers to run for Office! The Fleecing of Everett While several Police, Fire and City Workers wait to see the fate of their jobs due to pending layoffs. The Mayor continues to waste money.
* Sell the Old City Yards to his friend for 3.4 million less then what it was worth! * His office staff stilling making $699.60 per week part time! * Brian Zaniboni purchased a new Ford Explorer and takes this home everyday to Middleton and fuels up at the City Yards! * Spending thousands of taxpayer dollars on Sweetzer Circle (State Property)! * Giving raises to the City Solicitors Lawyers after telling BOA there would be no raises! * Paying his friends from GTA Landscaping hundreds of thousands of dollars for work around the City that should have gone out to bid or been completed by a someone on the State Contractors List.
MAYOR DEMARIA'S WOOD WASTE DEAL AND WHY IT HAPPENED! Layoffs? When the list of who is getting laid off comes out remember about those people the Mayor has already fired! Those people did not contribute to his campaign.
These people DID donate after the Mayor won. Maureen DiPierro - $970.00 Cheryl D'Andrea - $1,100.00 Phil Genualdo - $450.00 William Hart - $750.00 Matt/Claire Laidlaw - $500.00 Alfred/Dolores Lattanzi - $550.00 Carolyn Lightburn - $350.00 Maryann Mayo - $350.00 Colleen/Jeff Mejia - $600.00 Dale Palma/Family - $675.00 Julius Ofurie - $350.00 Paul Kelly - $450.00 Jon Norton - $300.00 Peter Pietrantonio - $350.00 James Sheehan - $300.00 The Mayor accepted most of these donation at Cityhall! I saw this list of people being questioned on Topix. It was one of the few comments over there that actually made sense............ Any idea why these people are being singled out? Looking at some of the names I can't see that any of them would actually be on a lay off list based on job function and/or length of service.
What am I missing? |

Okay, so they made donations after he won. I'll guess they might think of it as insurance. But I still don't understand why these people are being singled out.......
They had to support the incumbent (or appear to) and when he lost then they kept a low profile waiting to see who came out on top. Once the election is over, a contribution is a good way to show the new guy you'll stand with him and work for him.
It makes sense to me. I imagine I would have done the same thing in their situation.

I think it has something to do with the layoff list, but I could be wrong. I have not seen it and I don’t understand any of it.
It’s basically saying - if you’re loyal to me, you stay on, regardless of your qualifications. The ones that did not contribute are the ones being laid off.
It was Carlo that came out with “gone are the days” and it’s worse than ever before. Also, that site has a very good point about the voting record of these city employees that are on the council.

I get that the ones being laid off didn't contribute and agree that's wrong and Carlo definitely hasn't done what he promised......... "Gone are the days"
What I don't get is why these names are being put out here. But, since I'm the one that seems to be keeping this topic alive I guess I'll just leave it alone and let it die a quiet death. |

Isn't there a cap on how much an individual can donate to a campaign? I could be wrong but I thought it was $500.00.

It looks like you queries might have helped to have some affect justme; the latest from Citizens for Everett website: After receiving email's from some of the people on the list of donations to the Mayor campaign asking us to remove their name we have decided to remove this list for now.
Some of them regretted donating the money, but felt like they had to. They're jobs depended on it. |

I have to agree with this. Carlo didn't do a thing - it was DEP and the Court. What he did was:
A - He failed to do a cease and desist. B - He defended Thibeault at the peril of the Everett residents.
Just wait until June and July when Thibeault misses the deadlines. Will he go after him or just let him blow off all his deadlines.
When the 105 days is up, Thibeault will not comply - and Carlo will not do anything about it like he always does.
That common council meeting was just another perfect example of everyone playing into the mayor. What he has done is refuse to take action and he has spun the issue inappropriately in his favor. They didn’t even write the enforcement order. Wait till the 105 days Thibeault will not comply and Carlo will turn a blind eye and let the people of Everett down in August.
NO ONE should be doing jumping jacks until we know for sure he complies with the order from the state. Past history tells us he will not.
I'm sure Sal DiDomenico is a nice person but he uses every opportunity to praise his boss. The reason why they finally picked up a phone was because of pressure from the Board of Alderman. Lets give credit where credit is due. I have written to him, sent him numerous e-mail to no avail and never heard one thing. This lawsuit was ongoing and that meeting was a farce.
Look at how many of these court orders Thibeault had, and did NOT comply, and we are supposed to do jumping jacks? Jumping jacks will be on August 14th when the piles are all gone and the enclosure is being worked on. I'll be at Wood Waste on August 14th to see no piles.
After almost over a year and a half of lies, stalling, misstatements, behind the scenes deals with Wood Waste of Boston. Mayor DeMaria tries to take credit for Wood Waste Agreement with the State.
HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE AGREEMENT!
State Attorney Generals Office and Department of Environmental Protection forces Wood Waste to comply.
With the help of the Common Council and Board of Aldermen. BUT WILL THEY COMPLY?
Wood Waste already out of compliance

I agree with it (mostly) too, Tails. I have already posted similar thoughts in the Common Council meeting thread. I was hoping that I could be all done with the subject, except for maybe commenting on the local newspaper coverage of it. But then, I found a press release on the city web with a headline of "MAYOR GETS JOB DONE, WOOD WASTE TO CLOSE LANDFILL, REMOVE PILES FROM EVERETT FACILITY". There's a link to it below. Seems to paint a different picture than the one we heard Monday night. Is this supposed to be a city web site or something else?

As I said in the other thread, everybody deserves their share of the credit for it. I used to work for a boss who had a saying that if you need something done that you have no direct control over, give the people responsible for it "a headache". To me, that's what the local polticians have done, given someone else "a headache" to spur the necessary action. They all do deserve the credit for that, but nothing more.
But let me correct something from that other thread that other people have gotten more right than I did. In that thread I said, we shouldn't be completely happy until the piles are gone. That was only partially true; what also needs to be added to it is that the enclosed facility is completed and Mr. Thibeault is running a business that is complete compliance with all applicable laws. Let's hope that we all get to see that day, sooner rather than later. |

Here is a word the Mayor is going to have to familiarize himself with very soon. Ethics
Did the Mayor DeMaria violate State Ethics Laws? Excerpt for Chapter 268A Laws Governing your conduct as an elected Official:
You may not take any type of official action which will affect the financial interests of your immediate family or your spouse's immediate family.
More to come on this very soon.
Mayor DeMaria's Misuse of Election Funds. The Mayor during his campaign needed a lot of guidance. Here is a list of his consultants and what they were paid during his campaign. Brian Zanaboni - $5,144.00 - Consultant ? Melissa Murphy - $2,600.00 - Consultant ? Michele Senabaldi - $1,050.00 - Consultant ? The Campaign Network - $78,160.89 - Consultant/ Ads? The Campaign Network doesn't even list the Mayor as a client on their website and would not return our emails. We hope this income was reported to the IRS... |
