I hate when we disagree H1 just read todays paper and if you can read between the lines I read something different. I can't see the Hanlon Camp bringing in people and starting them off with a 80,000 a year job. I just can't see that. |

Lisa; do you really think that Marchese, Ravanesi and the rest are going to take paycuts over the previous department heads? Does that happen in the real world - never mind the "payback's a bitch" world of Everett politics? |

Lisa, you must be living in a dream world. Hanlon has a huge debt to pay to people who don't accept crumbs as reimbursement for services rendered. The pictures of Hanlon's victory party turned my stomach -- because it wasn't the hard working "foot soldiers" who were shown front and center with him. It wasn't the people who have stood by him for three elections that made the front page pictures last week -- it was people like Joe Marchese and David Ravanesi. These are not two men who do things because they're interested in the "greater good." These are two men who do things for what's in it for them.

You have to keep in mind, these people truly believe they are the ones responsible for Hanlon winning. Now, "SHOW ME THE MONEY"!! This is where Fred steps in and says that it was his brilliance that did it. You think he doesn't want something? Everyone knows that he has an agenda and time will tell what it is. |

I am not living in a dream world Lizbeth I wish I was cause then we wouldn't have cold weather on the way now would we. I can understand where the pictures turned your stomach lizbeth they did mine too, but, everyone out here is making to much of everything. I feel that if Mr. Hanlon does what he says he is going to do in today's paper and if the three muskateers are given jobs then you can all tell me I told you so. I just am not jumping to any conclusions as of yet. |

Lisa, if those pictures "turned your stomach too" - then you know something isn't right. You may not want to jump to conclusions, but there's an old saying. If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas. |

Mr. Hanlon, i'm sorry to say, will be an ineffective leader. He will be easily manipulated by certain others.

Oh ok H1 and Ragu wasnt manipulated by certain others, and stabbed many others in the back along the way including members of his own family, remember Ralph Shalsi, give me a break with this garbage, let the man be sworn in and get through his first 100 days. At least he will treat people with respect and not walk around city hall with his trenchcoat and cigars and his entourage axing people before he even took office, this is what Ragu did in the fall of 97 and what he continued to do for 8 years. As for Mazzie the word i heard today was that he will be kept on until the end of 2006 and be replaced in 2007. |

You're kidding, right? Whether Ragucci was manipulated by others or whether he's the devil himself, as many would've liked us to believe, is no longer relevant. What John Hanlon does now is relevant, and he's surrounded himself with people who expect payback.
Ralph Shalsi was not stabbed in the back. Do your homework, if you want to keep proclaiming that you're all about "just the facts", and you'll find out that Shalsi was largely responsible for his own demise.
And you report an awful lot of speculation for someone who keeps claiming to be interested in "just the facts." You "heard" that Mazzie will be kept on until the end of 2006? Yeah, that sounds pretty factual.

O.K. - this could be urban legend but this has been flotaed for a while. John will get sick or something when Van Camp is alderman prez, and VC will step into the mayors seat. What say we start a litle pool on that? |

Mazzie contract is up the end of January 2006 I can't see him staying on till 2007. He was loyal to the mayor |

And your point is? You do realize that Mazzie can step down to Captain and collect big on the details, right? |

I don't know. I've heard the E.P.D. has become a huge click in recent years. How would it be to go from Chief to Captain? Is he doing that bad of a job? Aside from the little S.S. Cops out there who have a megalomaniac complex, they seem to be doing o.k. I can see him being replaced simply because of his association with the Marchese Bar bust / Foresteire raid (within 2 days of each other). But I don't think there would be a gripe on performance....Am I in a coma on this one? |

No Wicked, you're not in a coma on this one...but Marchese and Foresteire will want their pound of flesh ..so that means they will try to get Mazzie though Hanlon. Notice how Hanlon's people keep talking about Mazzie leaving?
Now, we've had other chiefs in both police and fire step back a rank. It's happened, and they actually make more money because of the details. It's not necessarily a bad thing. |
