Court Worker, Businessman Sentenced In Bid-Rigging Scam
Men Ordered To Pay Back Thousands

POSTED: 3:21 pm EST December 23, 2005
UPDATED: 3:27 pm EST December 23, 2005

BOSTON -- A longtime federal court administrator and an office supply salesman have been sentenced to prison and ordered to pay back more than $600,000 they pocketed in a bid-rigging scam.

Prosecutors say Timothy Schroeder, 56, of Plymouth, used his unsupervised position as a property and procurement administrator for the federal court in Boston to make illegal deals with Steven Milkiewicz, a Scituate-based furniture and office product supplier.

Schroeder, who pleaded guilty to a slew of charges including conspiracy, bribery and embezzling, was sentenced to two years and seven months in prison, and ordered to repay $443,000. He had worked for the court for 20 years.

Milkiewicz, 49, will stay in prison for a year longer than Schroeder. He was convicted by a jury last September of conspiracy, submitting false claims and filing false tax returns. He was also ordered to repay $196,000 in wrongful profits.

Prosecutors say Milkiewicz submitted bogus bids for furniture and office supplies, then shortchanged the court in his deliveries. He and Schroeder shared their profits.

If this does not happen I would suggest asking Tom Reilly why. This should be done in a public forum perhaps the newspapers or television.

Ahead of time would be better, that way he would know what is expected of him.

Unless of course he has already cashed the campaign donation checks.

Emile - not even close! You just have to believe in justice this time. It's coming. There will be justice.

Sally - it's in the budget book. Call the City Council office and have the office person give it to you.
