Oh, my - what a tragedy for our city. Marchese has a history of hissy fits when things don't go exactly his way. Perhaps he'll keep going this time.... |

Of course, we can all wish for the best scenario.......

What a waste of time and energy searching for a new police chief when Ragucci had the right guy for the job all along...seems like Hanlon had everyone running the show for him (as expected) so it took some time for him to see Ragucci's Police Chief was the best man for the job. |

This exercise reminded me of the guy who likes to watch himself flex his muscles in the mirror. |

I think Hanlon is really out of touch with his responsibilities and unfortunately for this City, he is accepting advice from too many different factions. That would explain the debacle with the Mazzie issue.
Aldermaniacal(Pup's spelling) President Frank Nuzzo has had to sign documents as Acting Mayor while Hanlon is out of town.
I don't remember anyone doing that for Ragucci......
I honestly don't think that Hanlon will finish his term.....

Is Hanlon out of town indefinitely? What could there possibly be that needs a signature that can't wait until he gets back?
Aldermaniacal . . . that's a good word for all of them. The Pup is so wise . . . |

That is the normal chain of command - if the mayor is unavailable, the alderman president is the stand in. People forget that - last year when Marcus was president, i don't think people realize that he would have become mayor if something had happened to the mayor. (Just as now, Nuzzo would if John couldn't serve). Imagine how scary that is. There are some alderman that should never be alderman president for that reason alone. |

I may have misunderstood. Emile, is Nuzzo signing papers having to do with city business, or did he have to sign some foolishness saying he was acting mayor? |

No foolishness, this is for real......
Nuzzo is signing very important papers...
papers that keep the City operating from week to week....
Hanlon was not at the very important police appointments last night....he is away, they say...
very strange that he is not here for his appointments....
Answer, re-schedule the appointments and make them retroactive....
Hanlon should have been there....
Mayor's meeting or nursing home?
This was very important issue for Hanlon....and he wasn't there? Very strange...
The Pup and I vote nursing home...just temporarily...he will be out soon and back in the office, if he can find it...

Is it true that Kryzovic and Andrew were also given permanent appointments last night? These are two men who can only work on a "part time" status because of their retirement. Two key positions in the city, and they can only be "part time"? Or should I clarify -- they can only make a certain amount of money because they are already receiving retirement benefits. Does anyone really believe that these guys are going to put in full time hours if they're only receiving part-time money?
And let us not forget that Kryzovic was ineffective in his previous incarnation; chances of him suddenly being effective 8 years later are slim. Andrew has been right arm to the devil for the past few years in his capacity as a "consultant" for the school department; do we really believe he has the best interest of the city at heart? |

The City Auditor's job has been posted on the MMA site.....Andrews is not expected to keep this position. It;s a black eye for Hanlon anyway. Not sure about Kryzovic.
Their interests are that of the superintendent. End of story. |

According to the Independent the last two weeks, Hanlon is attending a mayor's conference in Washington, D.C. this past week. Perhaps the most interesting meeting was the one Fred Foresteire and Lona Defeo were spotted attending, entitled "Bidding Basics 101" in Revere (source: the Independent, p.8). I'm waiting to see what the Herald and Advocate have to say.
As far as city government goes, I think the Hanlon administration is starting to emerge out of the transition with the excption of a few offices still in flux. At this point, I think we can all say that whatever comes out of city hall now is John Hanlon's responsibility. Lets see what he does with everything on his shoulders.
