I read that today. It's really a shame that the Superintendent, "performing" in his role for the last seventeen years, didn't bother to take that class with Lona in 1989, and spared us this scandal.
I think you're right about the shape of city hall and where the responsibility will lie. Let's hope for the best. |

I saw Fred just signed up for another seminar as well, "education 101". I believe Lorna was furthering her education as well by attending "collecting a paycheck after screwing the city that pays my salary 101".
This was going to be followed up by the school committee (except for Joe) attending "governing with strings attached 101". I'm hoping to eventually be in a city with "integrity 101" but I have think I have a better chance at visiting Oz.

Factiva is a wonderful tool, Emile - it's better than Google. Have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day, my friend. I shall toast to you and the pup this evening. |

In regards to Chief Mazzie I'll tell you a quick story...I worked for the EPD several years ago and I had the priveledge of working with then officer Mazzie...Chief Mazzie comes from a long line of cops who I was priveledged to know...When I went to the former chief to propose installing laptop computers in police cruisers he stated that we would need the funds to do this and if we could secure the funds then we could get serious...He also suggested that I go to see officer Mazzie about possible grant money as he was the resident expert on grants...Officer Mazzie not only educated me on the subject of grant money but assisted me in putting the grant together. Because of Officer Mazzie we recieved the necessary money needed to purchase all of the laptop computers and other electronic equipment needed to make this project a reality...He is one of the sole reasons why we have the technology that we have today...It was quite a project...Officers can recieve and report vital information from their cruisers...we were one of the first to have this cutting edge technology in our area...He was a leader then and he is a leader now...It was an embarrasment what this new administration put this guy through...I hope that he remains Chief for many years to come... |

Thanks for sharing this story, wasplaya. Chief Mazzie has plenty of fans and your story only confirms what so many of us think. It is a shame what he was put through by this administration and we all know why...but it's behind us now and we're glad of it. |

Its unbelievable how much personal grudges can overwhelm actual qualifications for the vital position of Police Chief. At least this time it seems like we got the right man. Thanks for that story about the grants. We need people like him in the Everett schools to bring in some grant money there too.
I am an average resident of Everett who would like to see more communication about anything and everything to do with Everett |
