so I get in my car to go to city hall to pull papers out for my campainge, and to my surprise City hall is closed. Didn't realized that Everett was suffolk county, but, then again, it's one of those holiday's that got pass through union negogations how nice. I can only hope that the senate does the right thing in the near future

Pretty unbelievable, but from the city's revised ordinances:
Section 2-6. Office hours.
(a) Unless otherwise ordered by the mayor, all municipal offices shall be kept open to the public daily, except Saturdays, Sundays, legal holidays and June seventeenth, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Monday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., but when a legal holiday falls on Monday, all municipal offices shall be open on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The provisions of General Laws, chapter 4, section 9, shall apply with reference to the closing of all municipal offices on Saturday. |

Several years ago when I asked why city hall was closed for a Suffolk County Holiday, I was told at one time Everett was part of Charlestown and it carried over from there. Don't know how true that is but it didn't sound unreasonable at the time.
