What is going on with Main Street? It is a mess, traffic is all backed up, the mornings are horrendous then you get to Sweetster Circle which is another joke of it's own.

I didn't hear about this work, and City of Somerville trucks were out there. This is certainly a multi million dollar project. What's up with that? My real question is, where is this money coming from? It would have been nice to have been notified.

I heard this is stimulus money or stimulus will be used. STIMULUS MONEY! Who is the mayor kidding? The only thing getting stimulated is his pockets for the vendors he's using! Where are the bids, I didn't see them and how will this stimulate the city of Everett? How is paying all these outside vendors going to stimulate Everett? Ripping up Main St and having grid lock traffic is totally opposite of stimulating anything.

[b]Couldn't be more right!!!! Friends of my wifes were really upset. They live off Main Street and couldn't believe that they didn't get a heads up. They are anticipating a long, inconvenient month or two. Dying to see the spin on THIS one...LOL

Are you two ? (or maybe one) really that stupid. It amazes me how many people that are impressed with themselves are actually stupid. Every time I read your stupid or rambling comments I regret having wasted my time, I check this site once in a while thinking I might be informed about something. No more. I suppose you would have had Main St remain the mess of potholes that it was. Whatever number of people who read your stuff has just decreased by one. Have a nice summer.

Am I supposed to cry? The city is in dire financial straits and my point is, where is this money coming from? In past years, people have been notified of when construction has been going on. Why so sneaky and why do you even care?

Hate to break it to you, I am certainly not Cruller DeVille.

There is a newsletter sent out by the city that lists all of the streets being repaired. For street repairs that are immenent, the newletter includes dates. I believe you can sign up for the newsletter on the city website. This was all announced in the newspaper a couple of weeks ago.

I don't.....been wondering the same thing myself. There was a council meeting a month or so ago where it was announced that 30 streets were being repaired. I don't recall any follow up questions regarding funding. The list of streets looks to include a lot of the smaller terraces and courts that typically get overlooked. I'm glad to see they are getting some attention.

slightly off topic, but...I think the newsletter is a great idea. Another way to easily update people on new initiatives as well as way to remind people of the day to day stuff that gets lost in the shuffle (clean up after your dog, how to contact code enforcement, how to get a guest parking pass etc....).

I want to know how this project is being paid for to. Workers are out there on Saturdays? I'd prefer not to have a surprise on my taxbill we already know that freecash was used to save fire and police jobs for one year.
We just took out a big loan to pay for the parlin school. What money is paying for this?
As far as you call ramblings Jcklla I call it asking a question.
Oh, wait a minute I forgot, it's not the prior administration, so now it's called rambling.
If the prior administration didnt open a door correctly you would have 20 people on here saying they were hitting people with doors. I'm not buying the holier than thou attitude.

I think I'm in love Hallowed! Good Show! I too have watched and watched this venue for a little over three years and I agree it's time that those of us who want to call a spade a spade to do so without the "ramblings" of those like jcklla (who obviously has had someone pee in her Cheerios making her just purely miserable.)

The questions you speak about are extremely valid. How are these projects being paid for? If, it is, Stimulus money, then the BOA and CC would still has to approve the use of these monies. I, for one, would feel a hell of alot more comfortable waiting till the money came in and it was properly handled. Other valid questions exists; such as.....Where are the specs and when are the bids coming out and due? Not only that, but, is it just me? or are things moving waaaaaay too fast. People being hired too fast , people being firedtoo fast, people getting promised jobs, job after job. AHEM... perhaps we're victims of process deficiency!!!

You couldn't be more on target Hallowed Dreams....Bravo!!!! If this were the prior administration and people expressed their opinions, they would have been dragged to the square and been tarred and feathered THEN humiliated!!! Similarly good people have drawn and quartered for little more, than a smelly Wood Waste west wind. Did you ever notice that not one person (on this venue or on the floor of the council chambers) ever spoke from evidence or fact, it was totally all inuendo? It was done out of pure, unadulterated hatred!!!! Now that karma is being to turn things around they try to yell at us and invalidate our opinions right to our face and we're taken to task for asking the questions. KNOW WHY? Because, theytruly believe if THEY say it..... its right...... "NOT" They have gotten away with this tactic for so long, they forgot what the truth is... Know its crass; but I truly feel we (the real people of Everett) should be saying spit or swallow?

Concerning the Parlin; again... how astute of you Hallowed.... The renovations to the Parlin WERE supposed to be completed prior to any of the new buildings. I remember all the brew haha at the time because I worked with that group trying to save Glendale Park. I also believe that there were monies put aside for those repairs when the previous administratin (TWICE REMOVED:RAGU)began the building program putting the Parlin to the side. As a matter of fact, wasn't it the previious administration, just before leaving, who, took the time to let the people know how our financial health was. Hanlon said he wanted everyone to know what condition they were leaving the city. Very up front. As I recall, those monies were mentioned. OOOPPPS, they did it again!!!!! Their honestly and willingness to come forward points to where the problem lies.....todays keeper of the keys in the big blue building.

Look, I'm the first one who realizes that alot of our streets need repair; however, I remember a price tag of about 4 million dollars being attached to an end to end makeover of Main Street. Dont know about you guys, but I can think of alot better ways to stimulate our city than do Main Street. Then again, as Tails said, the wide pockets of this administration are being stimulated double time by vendors doing the work without the benefit the Massachusetts General Laws.

They just spend, spend, spend, and don't think of a thing. The more members of the BOA and CC needing jobs or members of thier famiies, the more these sweetheart deals get rubber stamped and approved.

I guess that's what's the most horrid problem is here. Others like above will bitch when those of us, with legitimate issues spout our problems. They will, however, back and stick up for those making money on us and doing the WRONG thing. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR gives you a shiver up your spine, doesn't it? Everytime I remember that I willingly put that X on the line, I cringe.

I've gone to many places where they say, "Wow, your from Everett"? "Really Corrupt there isn't it" Maybe they are right and the people who have protected the ragus and the EOBs want it that way.

As for me.. Hallowed and Tails... BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO!!!!!!.... love your spunk. I disagree with the likes of jklla..... Its a pleasure for me to come on this venue now and find good decent people who can give credit where credit is due and are not one dimensional.

I'm NOW going to go down the cellar to find my WWII helmet for the expected fallout. and yes dear, I'm taking the dog out.

Well I did happen to find my copy of the newsletter(actually the Mrs had it near the TV Guide) and I must say I do agree, it is a handydandy informational tool, as well as a superb fly swatter. lol

From what I read there were two areas of Main Street that they announced they were working on. They said they were going to mill from Henderson to Dyer Ave and undisclosed repairs from Tileston to Clark.
I'm not a professional contractor so I dont feel capable of commenting on the exact work they were doing however, the same questions we spoke of above still stand. Improvements on our streets are wonderful and in some cases, very needed. You have to agree with that. However, there are many other deficiencies that require immediate attention.

Above and beyond that, I'd like to see the correct, legal process followed when chosing the vendors that are doing these jobs. Thats where an airheaded purchasing agent kills us. Actually, we dont have any kind of a legal and functioning purchasing system presently operating and that is costing us plenty. It is efficient for fundraising wink, wink but does little or nothing else for us.

So, as promised and in an attempt to be as close to fair and accurate as we can, giving the devil their due, the nifty difty newsletter did, in fact, list some work on Main Street which means that some individuals were informed.

Pledging to be Honest
