All candidates, opposed and unopposed, that are marching in today's Homecoming Parade were asked to march alone in order to not take away from the parade.
Let's see which candidates do what they were asked.

This parade had traffic at a standstill. From the perspective of someone who lives in the area, it shouldn't be allowed.
Stat's 100% correct about the money freddie spends to make himself & the football team look good. The papers love him, his employees (and their families) are afraid of him, and he's sets a lousy example for the kids.............. Why is he still the superintendent? |

the Parade should be on a Sunday not on the busy day of the weekend where people were trying to get to the bank, postoffice, etc... what is wrong with this city, and by the way did you notice someone missing marching today,,, GALLUCIO |

I didn't even give Gallucio a thought. I noticed that the only police in the parade was the Chief. Of course, there were plenty officers directing traffic.

It really didn't appear that all that many people were interested. The sidewalks were fairly empty. |

With how bad things are, who wants to stand there and watch a phony parade that has become sooo political?
I didn’t mind the politicians that WALKED and supported the KIDS. That was nice to see.
Sorry but the red shirts and big banner was over the top and uncalled for. The parade has been cut in the past for financial constraints and if any year it should have been, it should have been this year.

Political? I will give you that the Mayor was over the top. Plus being in front of the Huskies also in red made it look even worse. At Yet there was still more kids and bands marching than politicians. |

I'm glad about the kids, and if his people were holding a Crimson Tide banner I would have loved it. |

The mayor did the same thing two years ago. It's ridiculous. It for the kids and he really needs to know that most of the viewing public don't appreciate it. That kind of display does nothing to help his cause. Sometimes, and I believe in this instance, less is more.

What he should have done instead was plant the people along the parade route without the tee shirts. Then they could have applauded him to make it look good to the other observers. |

Why do any of it? He should have done exactly what the rest of our elected officials did. Simply marched or rode in a parade, no one planted in the crowd, no group marching behind him. It is not a political event. If he wants to have his own parade, then he can. Paid for with his own campaign funds. I think what he did might border on being unethical by turning a taxpayers event into a political rally for himself.
