From Topix:

…from the home office in Everett, MA. Well, the number of topics that ol' Evil Dave is allowed to do a Top Ten list about seems to be dwindling. I was going to a Top Ten Things that Really Happened at the Public Safety meeting. Some of those were funnier than anything I could have ever had made up. There just weren't ten of them though. So, let's try this instead. Here now is this week's Top Ten List, the Top Ten Reasons that last Wednesday's Charter Review Committee Meeting didn't happen:

#10. Just enough members of the public attend their meetings so they couldn't just pretend that they had it.

#9. Didn't have enough money to hire a weather consultant to tell them that they should show up.

#8. They put the School Department in charge of whether or not they should hold their meetings.

#7. Nobody but Hanlon understood what a quorum meant.

#6. They were afraid that they'd get towed if they had to park on Broadway.

#5. Decided to go to DiDomenico's time instead. Oh...wait..No?

#4. The flashing blue snow lights were too distracting to hold a meeting.

#3. Jason Marc-ASS was too busy to attend because he was at another City Hall meeting trying to.... well....you know.(And if you don't, YOU SHOULD!)

#2. The Commission members don't understand how many days are already are already gone from their schedule. Their preliminary report is due in little more than a year.

And the #1 Reason that last Wednesday's Charter Review Committee Meeting didn't happen: They've already decided to get rid of the bi-cameral government; what else do they need to do?

I was wondering the same thing?

Okay, I was just playing around with the letters in #2's "Heart Eye Gonads". If you rearrange them it comes out to, "Gone Are The Days".

Very clever and funny.

The latest top ten from Evil Dave:

…from the home office in Everett, MA. Rumors abound! The city's abuzz! It's the world's worst kept secret! What can it be? You know Ol' Evil Dave loves this type of speculation. He just can't sit on the sidelines and let this one pass him by. So here now is a special Top Ten List, the Top Ten Rumors about the BIG Announcement at tonight's Charter Review Commission Meeting:

#10. The commission is disbanding. Yoko Ono is rumored to be to blame.

#9. Instead of a four year term, how about Mayor-4-Life!(How 'bout not!!)

#8. In a stunning reversal, instead of eliminating the bicameral government, they will calling for a tricameral government. The third level will be made up of all the old political hacks still looking for a payday. Rumor has it that Rav's already on his way back to town.

#7. They are being sued by the Committee to Keep Padding Ranieri's Pension for even daring to consider eliminating the Council Council. When asked for comment, the Commission responded by saying “Signatures!! We don't need no stinkin' signatures!!”

#6. The commission will be adding another seat to make room for another Jason Marc-ASS “relative”.

#5. The commission is planning on taking their summer break early in order to avoid the rush.

#4. They'll be taking orders for egg-on-the-face. I hear that the most popular choice so far is fried.

#3. Jack Nicholson is being flown in to deliver the immortal line “You can't handle the truth!!”

#2. The new city slogan will be....., well, you know. May be very appropriate in this case.

And the #1 Rumor about the BIG Announcement at tonight's Charter Review Commission Meeting: It's official! Emperor Paul Schlosberg!

The latest top ten:

…from the home office in Everett, MA. Let's face it. Posting has gone to hell in Everett since the idea that we are allegedly being tracked down was first floated. As a result, it's getting harder and harder for Ol' Evil Dave to come up with new subjects to post about each week. Instead, we had to turn to an old stand-by. So here now is this week's Top Ten List, the latest installment of the Top Ten Unanswered Everett Questions:

#10. Who is Everett's Top Pizza Poster and which shop do they own?

#9. Toupee or Not Toupee? That is the question.

#8. When the city's business leaders are told that people aren't being laid-off by the city, who are the 30 to 40 people receiving all that unemployment money?

#7. Is Sammy the Fly in the Witless Protection Program?

#6. How packed will City Hall be when the School Department comes forward looking for more money to finish the latest round of Parlin School remodeling?

#5. Will the plug get pulled on Charter Review tomorrow night?

#4. Wouldn't you like to have a sweetheart health insurance deal for life too?

#3. How stable is the Stabilization Fund going to be if they start using it as freely as has been proposed?

#2. What the heck is Evil Dave going to find to write about next week?

And the #1 Unanswered Everett Question: What did happen to the first few minutes of the Finance Committee meeting on ECTV last week?

You know Dee, that statement really made my hair stand on end! You are so, SO right! I'm sure we have all heard the rumors that have been flying around like crazy about this one or that one checking up on people who enjoy and practice their personal rights as Americans to exercise their Constitutional rights of free speech and expression.

Dont get me wrong, anyone who threatens or goes beyond good common decency and personally attacks individuals has gone beyond the protection of the law in my opinion. However, what I find exceptionally intriguing is that these same people who "supposedly" are checking up on us are doing so from suspicious venues such as public offices and public buildings. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

National television, radio, and newspaper entities stretch their collective "freedom" legs on a daily basis. As Americans, we are allowed to debate, enjoy the banter, and engage in lively discussion as it concerns issues we either agree or disagree about.

I also find it humorous and hypocritical at the very same time that after three years of pulmating individuals and sometimes going way, way, way over the line as it regards truth, facts and inuendo, we now are questioned because those SAME individuals who took a bat to others dont want that same bat taken to them.

Public forums such as Everett Average Citizen are creative and useful. They make us share, think and above and beyond that, they make public entities accountable. Perhaps if truth , justice, and the American way were actually a way of life instead of a slogan..... the need to share such sentiments wouldn't be so crucial. Alas, it is; however, and we should enjoy our freedoms for when we forfeit freedom we lose ourselves and the American way of life.

Public discussion brings with it responsibility; I think that part of the experience got lost somewhere in the mix. That being said, I believe that giving up our right to express or worst, being intimidated and threatened to give up our liberties is even more dangerous.

I dont post very often; however, when I do, I get the feeling in my belly, I feel compelled to. I would really hate it if I lost my right to share my opinions in an open, intellectual forum.

Just "MY" Humble Opinion...........

Thanks for that prospective Cruller and I agree 100%. Rest assured that I have been informed by the Forum Company that there has not been any requests made to them concerning tracking of posters or their IP addresses. That would have to be done with a court order and ONLY if someone’s life has been threatened. I assure anyone that has doubts this has not happened nor has there been any justification to trace anyone.

If someone has information to add to that……… or knows something I don’t (like using the police departments software) I urge them to contact me with more specifics and something I can use in a court of law. I can be contacted anonymously…. however, by just telling me that someone is “tracking me down” or there is a “list of names” will not hold up in court.

I am looking for any information that I can bring to an attorney…"if" there is any truth to these stories that are flying around.

I know that all city employees have signed a disclaimer that they would not “blog” or use city resources for their personal agendas, and that will be part of my discovery.

I’ll state again, no one has been tracked down here but I do warn that if it happened illegally, I will pursue in court. It is my personal belief that these stories are a scare tactic to stop people from posting their opinions. That is our right, and our right by law and I refuse to be bullied.

latest top ten from Topix...

…from the home office in Everett, MA (at least when I'm out on a week-end furlough). Since it's almost special election day, here now is a special Top Ten List, the Top Ten Reasons why you should vote for Sal DiDomenico as your next State Senator:

#10. Because almost the entire “brain trust” of elected city officials and a bunch of unions want you to.

#9. Without having to keep one eye on Galluccio all the time, he'll be able to get so much more done on Beacon Hill.

#8. His sign holders can block the sidewalks with the best of them.

#7. To keep my path open to the Registrar of Probate job or whatever other cushy position he was rumored to be after previously.

#6. To reward him for all he's done at Common Council meetings after his time as President.

#5.'Cuz we don't need another stinkin' lawyer holding that seat!

#4. Otherwise, all of the lemmings will be very upset.

#3. We need someone on Beacon Hill who'll take Hanlon under their wing if “The Apocalypse” comes to pass.

#2. For the brilliant strategy of running as a political insider at a time when trust in politicians is at an all-time low.

And the #1 Reason why you should vote for Sal DiDomenico as your next State Senator: He's from Everett!!(But not really).

latest top ten from Evil Dave:

…from the home office in “beautiful” downtown (name withheld by request). Well, now we know that it could take up to three days to get a reverse 9-1-1 call from the “City” in an emergency situation. Well, can't afford to wait for that. So here now is a special Top Ten List, the Top Ten other things you can do to be prepared for an emergency situation in the “City”:

#10. Sign-up for a text service so that those us who don't have a text plan (or a text capable device for that matter) have to pay to receive any messages that the “City” feels like sending us. What the heck? It's just another cost for those of us on a fixed income. No biggie.

#9. Plan on hanging out around the “Chief Executive's” house so you can hear the special announcements from the passing police cars.

#8. Give up your heathen, atheistic ways and attend a “City” favored church regularly. Good thing emergencies always happen on weekends.

#7. Enroll your adult child in the School system. Just one question though. Where are they going to hold classes for the fifty-second grade?

#6. Stop using your calculator to add up how much the “City” must be spending on all those other mass dialed calls done by an outside vendor and remain vigilant.

#5. Hope and pray that you hear about that slo-motion LNG explosion in time.

#4. Get rid of those ugly satellite dishes and get some over priced cable service so that you can read the English only notices. More cable subscribers means a bigger cable TV “slush fund” for the “City”.“Poster Boy” must need an assistant too!

#3. Be assured that the “City” is well prepared to handle all flower emergencies.

#2. Find the “Days” and stay with them. Nothing seems to be able to harm them.

And the #1 other thing you can do to be prepared for an emergency situation in the “City”: Be ready to attend the photo-op.
