I was voting today and heard a few people discussing the Mayor. He had his department heads taking counts at the voting spots throughout the city. The department heads have to use a vacation or personnel day. Someone said that the mayor wants to see who went out to vote today. Does this make sense to anyone? He is unopposed.
It makes a lot of sense. Even though he's unopposed, he's looking for a good count which will then be used as an indicator of how people feel he's doing as the mayor.
A high count is good for him, indicating confidence.
A low count will be an indicator for potential opposition that he can be beat.
