It doesn't matter. It's going up. We can "attempt" to try and make the changes that we want but the bottom line is, "It's going up"
Parking is still an issue. Overcrowding is still an issue. There are still a lot of issues that need to be hatched out, but hardly anyone showed up. The last time the meeting was scheduled in August it was standing room only. Now, there was maybe 20-25 people. I don't know if the word is getting out there that it's hopeless or people are fed up. The most important thing to do in these matters are to stick together in numbers. This is an election year! The politicians take advantage of that, why shouldn't we? Hold these people's feet to the fire. Sure, the planning board made a great speech on how ugly the building was and how it was not up to the neighborhood standards, but in the end, it's going up. Now, people went up there again, prepared to speak, took time from our personal lives for the umpteen time... and yet another delay. The delay was because "supposedly" the planning board faxed the developer a list of questions that needed to be answered for this meeting. The developer claims they never received it and did not know they were there to speak. Where did they think they were going?
My opinion, they are all in cahoots. They were all with the mayor before hand.
If I was the developer and "claimed" never to receive a fax, I would have said "Show me the transmittal receipt that's the proof you faxed it" I do admit, another delay is not good for the developer but just wait and see how fast this goes through.....after the election. |
