I'm posting this because I know someone that is against item 4 and claims that Councilor DiFlorio told him these meetings are no longer open to the public. When did that happen and why?

Traffic Commission Agenda
September 21, 2011
6:00P.M. Keverian Room

OLD BUISNESS
1.) C0083-11 Resolution Councilor Bruno
That the Traffic Commission considers making Webster Street a one-way
Going from Linden Street to Broadway, in the interest of public safety and
concerned residents.

2.) Traffic Commission Item – Sponsors Alderman Millie Cardello and
Councilman Kenneth Giannelli

That the Traffic Commission consider making the odd numbered side of
Thorndike Street resident only parking all day every day.

NEW BUISNESS
1.) The Traffic Commission will consider restricting parking on Waters Ave 40 feet from the corner of Main Street on both sides. ( It is currently restricted on 1 side and trucks are frequently getting stuck causing traffic problems on Main Street. )

2.) Sponsor – Councilor Lou Sierra
The Traffic Commission will consider making Fremont Avenue, Garland
Street, Mt. Washington Street and BelleView Avenue resident parking
24 hours / 7 days a week.

Traffic Unit
City of Everett Massachusetts
Everett Police Department
45 Elm Street – Everett, MA 02149
Steven A. Mazzie
Chief of Police
Tele. No. (617) 394-2365
Fax No. (617) 394-2357

3.) The Traffic Commission will consider having City Services place a
Stop Sign at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Harvard Street at the request of area residents for public safety.

4.) The Traffic Commission will consider placing 15 minute parking signs at 54-56 Morris Street at the request of the business owner at that location.

5.) Sponsors Councilors Adam Ragucci, DJ Napolitano and Leo McKinnon
That the Traffic Commission highly consider no parking on both sides of Shute Street starting at Marie Avenue to Ferry Street due to traffic flow problems at that intersection.

6.) The Traffic Commission will consider a request from the business owner at 304-306 Main Street to remove the 15 minute parking signs at that location due to the fact they were installed for the previous business owner and are no longer needed.

7.) Sponsor: Alderman L. Charles DiPerri – That the Traffic Commission
prohibits parking on the West side of Bennett Street from Ferry Street
for a distance of one hundred and twenty five feet (125’) in a southwesterly direction. The purpose for this restriction is to allow a free flow of traffic in both directions on Bennett Street. Presently with vehicles parking on both sides of Bennett Street, traffic up and down the hill impedes the free flow of traffic.

8.) The Traffic Commission will consider making the section of Morris Street from Glendale Street to Vernal Street one way. Traffic will travel from Glendale Street to Vernal Street. Traffic will be restricted from traveling from Vernal Street to Glendale Street with do not enter signs to be installed at the corner of Morris Street and Vernal Street.

Tails,

These meetings, just like any other city meetings, have to be open to the public. Whether or not the public is allowed to participate and how is another story though.

I found out they are still open to the public. The man I spoke with insists he was told it's not open to the public, and had to watch on TV. I have no reason to doubt this man.

I don't care if it's traffic, public safety or whatever....EVERYTHING in this city is political under a Dictatorship rule. If you are not "loyal" to DeMaria you wont even get a handicap spot. It's disgusting!

Maybe Tails already said it for me in a different way but I was going to comment that it was strange to see that all of the localized 24/7 parking bans passed by a unanimious vote when the Chairman of the Traffic Commission has come out publicly and said that he's not in favor of the localized bans.

I understand your frustration on the h.p spaces but, if you dont' support the mayor and the rest of the commissions you won't get anywhere in this city. Just love the demaira sign on nuzzo's house after all I wish I could get a h.p space so I can have my own parking space.

Drove by there all weekend long car not even out there but then again, like the poster said he has a driveway and a garage. JUST NOT FAIR

I went to the last Traffic Commission meeting to see how the Webster Street one way was going to go. They are open to the public. As far as the localized bans, they said it was to give City Council a feel for how it would work if they wanted to go citiwide with the 24/7. Better than going and changing the signs all across the city then finding out it was a bad idea. Lets see what happens when the trial period is over.
