The city of Everett seeks qualified applicants for the position of Local Building Inspector/Zoning Enforcement Officer. Responsible for enforcing Mass State Building Code, the city’s zoning ordinances and other related regulations. Review and approve building permit applications and structural plans; inspect buildings; issue occupancy certificates; make zoning determinations and conduct zoning enforcement. Must have at least five years’ experience supervising building construction, be certified by the Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS) and have valid Class D Motor Vehicle License. Ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and customer service skills and must demonstrate ability to interpret and enforce regulations with tact and impartiality. Because of the special certification needed for the job, I wouldn't be surprised if, when it is filled, it would become the first use of the exemption provision under the residency ordinance.

Different question though. Is this to fill an existing position or is it a new job? It's not really easy to tell but there doesn't seem a part-time building inspector position in the budget Gas & plumbing, yes; but building, no.
