As many of you know, Everett is designated as a "no place for hate" city. It's supposed to mean something. It means respect and tolerance of all people.

However, the Advocate's relentless homophobic commentary, along with the vicious and outright lies makes one wonder where all these elected officials are while this is going on. Where's the leadership? Why the tolerance of hate?

I've just been told that this "newspaper" is now being dropped across the city, by school teachers, in an effort to help the Nuzzo campaign. Are we really okay with this? How does Frank distance himself from this?

It's not hard to connect the dots here. Superintendent Foresteire has commandeered the Nuzzo campaign and commissioned the Advocate to air his ugly, vicious views. His hatred of Smith for daring to hold him accountable for his gross mismanagement of the Everett Public Schools is widely known. The fingerprints of the Superintendent's advertising writer, John Dowd, are all over the Nuzzo campaign ads and commentary in the Advocate.

The "win-at-any-cost" hate campaign being run on behalf of Nuzzo is not only offensive to people with gay family and friends, it's offensive to people who believe in justice and fair play.

We can only hope that there will be a backlash at the polls on Tuesday.

I find it funny that you leave out the fact that Smith sold his vote to the gay marriage lobby. But that is typical of people like you who skip the facts and go right to that same old tired line"He's a hater"if anyone needs to learn some tolerance it's you!

Sold his vote? Organizations endorse and support people for office all the time. Smith also got the endorsement from the Greater Boston Labor Council, which means he also gets financial support and manpower help from them. Nuzzo got $500 from the Boston Carmen's Union Local 589. Does that mean he's sold his vote to them. Nuzzo also got $500 from Wood Waste of Boston. If he should lose on Tuesday and remain as a member of the Board of Aldermen, is he going to recuse himself the next time an issue about this company comes before the Board, or does that $500 buy Nuzzo's good will on any future projects?

Just because you don't like the particular organization in question doesn't mean that Smith has sold his vote, anymore than it means he's sold his vote to labor.

Theodore Rex - can you verify that Frank is the anti-gay candidate? Because organizations are saying that Frank's been very vague about his position.

If someone is against MEN MARRYING MEN and WOMEN MARRYING WOMEN--why does that make the person anti gay ?

The fact is Smith received BIG MONEY from the Gay Organization Mass Equality and he TRIED TO KEEP IT A SECRET !!

Now that it has brought it out in the open you are trying all kinds of tactics to divert the truth--

The vast MAJORITY OF SMITH'S CAMPAIGN MONEY came from Mass Equality or people associated with them----END OF STORY !

How was church, Paul?

You really are a one note trumpet. Have you even looked at Smith's campaign finance report, or are you getting your "facts" from that used toilet paper Mitchell calls a newspaper?

You do like to avoid the questions about your own candidate, though. Makes me wonder what Nuzzo is trying to hide. Could it be his connection with the Superintendent and the fact that all of his advertising is being designed by Freddy's PR guy? And yet, not a mention of John Cook Dowd's services on Frank's campaign finance report, not even as an in kind contribution. Talk about trying to hide something.

Paul - you're not telling the truth. In February of this year, Smith's campaign manager wrote a letter to the editor in which he very explicitly stated Stat's position. Nobody was hiding anything, and this information was "out there" two years ago. You're just spreading the lies you've been told.

In defense of all the candidates, not ONE of our three newspapers did a survey and published the results. You might also like to know that Rosemary Miller has also been endorsed by the same groups as Mr. Smith.

Are you saying that Mass Equality, the Organization that supports and promotes SAME SEX MARRIAGE,is supporting more than one candidate for the State Reps. race ??

I thought they were only supporting Smith.

Yeah Paul - take a look - this is the antigay lobby and what they have to say about this race:

You must be logged in to see this link.

House - 28th Middlesex (Everett/Malden) - Rep. Ed Connolly - deceased (D)

D - Frank Nuzzo, Jr., 20 Evelyn Rd., Everett

D - Stephen Stat Smith, 53 Clarence St., Everett

D - (write-in candidate) Rosemary Miller - was aide to Rep. Connolly

Comment: Stephen Stat Smith ran last time and nearly beat Connolly, with 49%. He's pro-gay marriage and supported by that crowd. We had hoped that Rosemary Miller would be good, but she's now endorsed by the gay lobby. In other words, the pro-family Connolly had a mole working for him.

When you got out to the site, Paul - note that Frank is not in "green" as an antigay marriage candidate. It would suggest that he failed to respond to surveys on the topic. So who's really "hiding?"

Could someone help me understand why supporting gay marriage or being supported by the gay rights groups are a bad thing? There are unions in this country that are a detriment to the economy, and I don’t see anyone getting bashed for being pro-labor. You guys can't see the forest through the trees.
All 3 candidates - sorry, 4 are a sad representation, and embarrassing given the level of professionalism and effectiveness Ed brought to the seat.

Face it – no matter who wins – we lose.

I wish intelligent people in this city were motivated to run because our local representatives are becoming as much a joke as our national leadership.

The voters won big last night. At least Smith doesn't have a problem speaking up for what he believes in.

Oh, that would be called libel, my friend. Keep it up. You're not really anonymous on this site.
