Paul, it's not a comparison of the Boston Herald against the users of this forum. Lynda compared the number of users of this board against the total population of the city and came up with 2.9%; I compared the circulation of the Boston Herald against the population of the state and came up with 3.1%. I was simply using Lynda example in a bigger sampling. |

Yes, but, the Boston Globe has a South Shore edition as well as the Metro Edition and the Regular one we get around here. So if you do the math as a whole the numbers are MUCH different. Since you are using the numbers of the population of the whole state and figures not from all editions. |

Actually, if you use 34 people and the Everett's census the number is .09% of the total population in Everett using this blog. CK your numbers are spot on witht he numbers provided by the Herald and Globe.
Either way, no matter how large the usership is people here should be applauded for taking part in "civilized" conversation. Although lately that seems to be heading out the door pretty fast.
Can we get back to real conversation about how to work and make this city better than the sad state it's currently in? Can we talk about ways to get the increasingly apathetic voters in this city involved (maybe even on this blog)? Every day I read this blog, and every day it seems to focus more on tearing people down, rather than finding ways to bridge the incredible rift in this city. The Ragucci administration didn't do anything to bridge the gap, and neither has the Hanlon administration, so lets move past that.
How about the 100 civic minded people signed up for this blog try to bring civility back into the conversation? One of the greatest quotes of recent history is, "Let us focus on what unites us rather than what divides us".
Remember folks, the people that visit this blog consistently are some of the most active in the city. Do we have glaring differences in our positions and backgrounds? Yes, but we need to get back to the matter at hand, and get this city back on track before we end up in receivership with gangs and violence continuing to rise. |
