Congratulations to John Hanlon on an extremely close election win. I guess the third time was the charm, eh? It should be interesting to see what happens next. What will become of David Ragucci? Will he run for mayor again or go for a state office? See the poll and vote!

congrads John I am the one with the yellow jeep that the police have been looking for and I park it out in front of my building with N.H. plates on it. And guess what as of last nite no ticket so did the parking enforcement come to halt under the ragucci adm. cause the police don't know where they are going in the near future.

I heard they voted for there 10 hour days so does this mean no parking enforcement around the city now.

Lori, congratulations on being another Everett scofflaw. (Not congrads) I have read your posts in the past, and always wondered what kind of upbringing you had that would allow you to rejoice in flouting Everett's laws. If your car is registered in NH and you are living in Everett and paying insurance as though you live in NH, you're not only flouting the Everett residency law, you are comitting insurance fraud. You are one of the reasons our insurance rates are so high. Good luck to you.

Do you park it on the street? I never read the post about it in the other forum because it was already closed. Wouldn't it be easier to just register it here and get the overnight sticker?

I personally am thankful that I have been able to put my car in a private spot when I moved across town a couple of years back, but when I lived on Marie Ave, the street parking was really hard to come by. Plus there were residents there who would call the police and report people who let their inspection sticker expire. The police actually would come and take the plates and tow the car. It was amazing and it sure convinced me not to forget to do my inspection.

The issue of parking is a touchy one in Everett. Will the severe restrictions on converting homes to multi-family dwellings and the overnight parking stickers help relieve the strain? I personally don't think it will be enough.

Lori - if you have NH plates then your car is registered in NH and insured as though you live in NH. This called called fraud, and that makes you a scofflaw. Why not just register your car here?

As for proving your point - bologna. You're just another scofflaw trying to get away with flouting the law.

Actually, in New Hampshire car insurance isn't required. But if you get into an accident you are financially liable. Maybe that's why Lori is doing it. It was the same way in Illinois, where I grew up so it was really risky to go without comprehensive insurance conisdering the uninsured drivers were sharing the road.

Michael, it's against the law for a Massachusetts resident to go without insurance. It's against the law for a Massachusetts resident to register her car in NH.

Thanks for pointing that out. I agree completely with you and I think it is highly risky and wrong for her to do what she is doing. However if you look at her note she seems to assume that she is a New Hampshire resident as far as the NH DMV is concerned, so I can see why she says that she doesn't need insurance. That being said, if the car is registered in her name, she can't legally be residing in Everett and be taking advantage of NH residency, like you say. There is a $2000 fine assessed by the state of NH in addition to MA legal action if she got caught so it would be a double whammy. She is clearly breaking the law, but no one in Massachsetts is going to revoke her plates on that car since she isn't in the RMV system unless she gets in an accident. It is clearly wrong to do this. I am just curious to see why she is doing it. If its just to save on car insurance, she's also costing Everett the vehicle excise tax that the rest of us have to pay and that would be a pretty selfish thing to do. I would think she has a pretty good reason therefore, or else she wouldn't come out and say it. I know I must sound naive, but I tend to give poepl the benefit of the doubt, especially when I don't know them.

You do seem a little naive, but this message board will smarten you up real fast.

Thanks for hosting this forum.

Stan doesn't have time to run a forum anymore, I guess he's getting ready to accept his new city hall position.

I don't believe he can speak for himself.

Do you think that he knows any people other than McCarthy supporters, Freddie, and the Marchese Family?

I was hoping that Stan would come over to this board and make an appearance. It would be interesting to see him/her make points without moderator control.
