Heres wishing Alderman Mc Gonagle a good year as the new Board of Alderman President. I wonder, could this be a step towards running for Mayor. He can show his leadership skills every two weeks. Let's see how he does. I hope he doesn't stop his fellow Alderman from speaking when he doesn't like what they are saying, as previous Presidents have done. Congrats Joe, just run a good and fair meeting.

Good for Joe!!

Does anyone think he will follow parliamentary procedure? Someone needs to keep those blowhards in check. Joe is a man of few words. I wish him well.

FYI
"Parliamentary procedure" is a set of rules for meetings which ensures that the traditional principles of equality, harmony and efficiency are kept.

Robert's Rules of Order, the best-known description of standard parliamentary procedure, is used by many different organizations as their rule book for conducting effective meetings.

Does anyone think that book exists in the Chambers?

Abolish " I'd like to rise on a point of personal privilege." After that statement the blowhard (most of them) would speak for twenty minutes on a subject not on the agenda.

Ah well, Good Luck, Joe!

It is rumored that Robert's Rules of Order is located in the backroom. The clerk is a very smart fellow who works very hard to help new members understand the "rules." I think Joe is going to surprise a few people.

Maybe they should place it in the "bathroom". It may get read more often.

Well, if we're going to go there - why not put it at Friday's? And the copy for the school committee should go to Jimmy's on Route 1.

"Something tells me Turk is a McGonagle volunteer getting ready with his campaign slogan.

I hope he didn't have to pay a consulting company for that one.

What's next...his video of how he will fix the city right from his campaign headquarters at the tasty garden"

Found this on the mirror, what's up with that blog, they are nasty.

I would agree and I think it's driven from the fact you can post as anonymous so you can't track who is posting what.

It's not everyone, massdee. Just a couple of Hanlon koolaid drinkers who are now scared for their political lives and their jobs -- and this is how they respond.

Very appropos, as usual, Emile.

Yes, massdee . . . unfortunately, maturity is not a strong suit of this group. I think Fran is right in that the anonymity of it "inspires" people to lesser behavior.
