I went to Pity Hall this morning to get my new parking sticker only to find out that they are not there on Fridays. Nice Country America. Not only did it take me FOREVER to find a space to park along with a dozen others, went in to Pity Hall found at least those dozen people and myself standing there looking for assistance in getting these Yellow Stickers than found out oops sorry not today there is no one here to help you. NICE! Than to find out that there is a $10.00 fee for them. WHAT? I clearly heard Councilor Hicks make a statement at there last meeting that if you went to Pity Hall before Feb. 2nd that there was no charge it was only after that time that there would be a charge of $10.00. SO he urged that everyone went as soon as possible. So let's see they are going to collect $10.00 from each of us tax paying citizens for these tickets that WE all know will never be enforced. Is this fee to pay for even more hires?

There was a reverse 911 call made about this yesterday, and the call also stated that there would be no charge up until February 2nd. Did anyone else get the call? |

Lynda, did they say that the parking people are never there on Friday, or was this just some fluke thing? |

Scoop, The city uses reverse 911 to call all the residents to inform them of certain things that are going on in the city. I have received a couple of different calls over the past couple of years. Received one at the beginning of the month about the Sludge meeting that was held in Charlestown. It's a recorded message. |

City hall closes @ 11:30 on Friday.
It's too bad everyone who's complaining about paying for stickers weren't paying any attention when the issue was before the council & boa. (several times) You should have been complaining before they passed the new ordinance. So now you'll go into the "shoot the messenger" mode and b**ch at the people in the parking clerk's office who are just doing their job, collecting the fees and giving out stickers. Go after the people who created this monster, not the people that have to implement it. |

Yes, city hall does close at 11:30 on Friday, but from Lynda's post, it sounds like she was there before that. Is that correct, Lynda.
Perhaps there was just a bit of miscommunication. The people in the Parking Clerk's office are very helpful, and Mr. Kelly is a very honorable man. Justme makes a good point -- these people are only implementing the policy; they're not responsible for creating it. |

Sorry, Sally......... I didn't mean you personally.
I voiced my disagreement with this to council & boa but got nowhere. Now I'm hearing many people complain (justifiably) but they do it to the wrong people. I've heard the parking clerk staff (& Mr Kelly) being yelled at & harassed in such a way that I've wanted to defend them. That's sure not a job I'd want! |

I agree this should have been worked out much better before it was implemented. Big surprise.
