I just read the agenda for Monday nights meeting, 02/05/07. Lorri Bruno has the audit on there. That should be interesting. Also, have you been to the City of Everett web site. It has been improved, not bad.

I believe it is the city clerks son who designs the web sites. He designed some of the youth sport sites also and did a great job.

Thanks, Sally. How's your husband doing? Sorry to hear about his illness, but I understand there's a lot they can do for that these days.

Did you walk away because you couldn't stand to listen anymore? LOL.

I was just wondering if the Mayor had appeared to talk about the forensic audit.

Citizen, he did speak on it. He said he cannot say anything in public yet, but when the final report comes in he will have a meeting with both branches of city government in executive session. He has only received the draft so far.

Of course he can't say anything. Same way he couldn't say what it was that was prompting his request for the audit -- remember the old saying "I'd tell ya, but I'd have to kill ya." That's what this reminds me of . . . so much cloak and dagger over nothing. I cannot believe that if they actually had something, they wouldn't find some way to leak it to the Independent . . .

I walked away because I did not want to hear the plans about the Sweetser Circle area that will never happen because the DCR has to be in on it. My husband is hanging in there. He is bored to death. He is not used to sitting still for any length of time.

Sally, that was a very long, boring meeting last night. They spent a lot of time on BS.

From "The Mirror"

Can someone tell me why Everett taxpayers are footing the health insurance bills for the elected officials (common council, board of alderman, and other city government) especially when most of these people work part time? They have 85/15 plan and who pays for it? The taxpayers.

What is more pathetic is alot of these people can afford health insrance through their companies they own or throught their day jobs. Some poeple in this city don't even have health insurance yet are footing the bill for the city government. Gimme a break!

And again the mayor hiring 7 more people for overnight parking program. He stated in last nights meeting that the program will pay for itself. Sure it will in the first couple months. Then what happens after people get the point not to park without a sticker after getting a couple tickets? The revenue from the tickets will go down and then who will have to foot the bill for the new hires? The taxpayers. It is very hard to get rid of people once you bring them on board. And I sincerely doubt these people will be walking in temps. like last night issuing tickets for 6 hrs straight.

Sure the city needs some enforcement but I agree with the mirror. Leave it in the police and my idea would be hire 2 people to help with the parking enforcement duties. 7 new hires? Come on...

Mayor said it is safe to be walking the streets at 12-6 am and some of these hires to be women. Has anyone been watching the news lately? I can only imagine the crime that does not make it to the news. I mean really if it is so safe then why take parking out of the EPD's hands? If the crime rate is fine then why can't they handle the task and be out on side streets, etc making their presence known to wrong doers?

Can't wait to see what the budget is for this next year. And with Patrick saying funding is not going to be coming to small towns and cities becase of the deficit. Wait until next years tax bill.
Not to mention, the mayor said last night that we will start paying for the new elementary schools next year. When does the high school kick in? Watch out, we are certainly in for it.

Silly question,

if anything was of major importance in the audit, wouldn't it somehow get leaked out? Wouldn't they want to deflect some of the really bad press that has been going on for some time with this administration? Eagle with walker has made some really bad choices in this admin. I can just picture him waiting with angst to hop on something, anything the previous admin did wrong. Ya just gotta love that hiring freeze they had.

I was trying to read his body language last night when he was discussing the audit, I couldn't tell if he was pleased or not with the audit. I would have thought, if it was good news for him, he wouldn't of been able to keep the smile off his face, especially since he likes to blame the previous administration for everything.

So true Massdee,
I get a feeling that he didn't get the info he was looking for. Funny how everyone wanted to let him make decisions regarding tax breaks for residents when he first got elected and he screwed us.Now it sounds like his ability to deflect problems with his admin is waning, seeing as there are so many problems.

I also think, if he found a smoking gun against the Ragucci Administration, he would not be going into Executive Session with City government. He would let the entire city know about it. He needs votes any way he can get them. His reelection bid is in big trouble.
