A fast-moving, two-alarm blaze damaged two homes on Pierce Avenue in Everett Tuesday night.
NewsCenter 5's Jack Harper reported Wednesday that the Pierce Avenue fire, like several others, began in the back porch areas of the homes, and some are considered suspicious. Investigators are taking a hard look at fire scenes on Springvale Street, Corey Street and Florence Street.
"We've had a rash of fires over the course of the last two months. We've probably had somewhere in the area of 12 serious fires in Everett," Everett Fire Department Chief David Butler said. "We are seeing a common theme with careless disposal of smoking materials on back porches in several of these fires. The fire on Corey Street is one of three that are considered suspicious. Butler said that at this point, officials do not see a connection between the fires.
Seven families were burned out of one building. Passers-by ran into the fire to save lives.
"It could have been a lot of people dead at 3:30 in the afternoon on Friday afternoon. Very serious whatever is going on," landlord John Finlay said.
"We are concerned with the number of fires that we have had but not concerned with the fact that there is possibly an arsonist that is out there responsible for all these fires," Butler said.
I have to agree with the other posts this is scary and I wonder if the fire bug that was just released from Jail "could be" getting active again. Even though Butler does not think it could be I am just wondering. and if you are new to everett back in the 70's we had a fire bug that would start fires in everett, chelsea, and revere people who are still here remember.

I just saw it on the Channel 7 news. They said no one hurt and it does not look suspicious.

A parked Ford Explorer caught fire and that fire spread to a house on Oak Street Sunday in Everett. No one was injured inside the home. Officials are investigating.

It has been a busy week. They had an armed robbery at White Hen the other night. One present EHS student and one former who moved out of the city. The clerk knew who they both were. They caught one right away and I have not heard if they arrested the otehr one yet. They know who he is.

The one on Ferry Street near the school? Is it in our newspapers police log? The one out of school should be old enough for it to be in there.

phantom lynda... yes it was in the police log. There is a 18 year old for armed robbery that occurred last Sunday night. It does not have a location of where it was listed, but I am not aware of another White Hen around these parts.

It was the White Hen on Ferry Street. One of the kids names is in the police log this week. The other one was not apprehended right away. They had the K-9 and Malden looking for him. They knew who he was and I am assuming they have since picked him up. It will probably be in next weeks police log.
