More expensive for women because they are willing to pay to look nice.
75% of men don't care and that estimate may be low !!! (LOL) |

Trust me I have sons and although they don't care what they look like, thier dates do. Top of the line only is ordered by the dates. However we do get off a lot easier than the girls parents. |

My eldest son just decided to tell me he was invite and is attending this Semi Formal. Nothing like some notice from the kid. Were it is just a semi formal and not a Prom, is a suit ok? |

A suit is fine for a Semi, not a prom but yes in my opinion for a Semi. I also think that the limo for a semi is a little ridiculous. What do these kids have to look forward to for their proms? Jeez I didn't ride in a limo till my wedding day. I remember for my prom, the "boyfriends" father drove a Buick Regal and he let us use it for the prom. We thought we were all that! Boy have things changed. |

Yes a suit will be fine. I have to say that in past years most boys wore a tux. I agree about the limos Lynda. I think it should be a rule that parents have to drive the kids and pick them up. Many cities and towns do that. But since the 8th and 10th grade semi are not school functions, the rules are up to the parents who run it. This year a new group of parents booked the 8th grade semi. They originally wanted to make it a Luau or some sort of theme and have the kids dress accordingly. No gowns and tuxes and limos. The kids were all upset at the thought of not getting to do what the kids had done in all the years past. My daughter has senior prom this year and is is not real exciting. She has been to so many semis and proms that the senior prom is just another one for her.

That is what I mean Sally. Your daughter. Here it is her Senior Prom and it is no big deal. That is sad. When I went to Everett High (many moons ago) we had 2 Proms and the surrounding cities used to get so mad at us because we had two Junior and Senior and all they had was the Senior. But I remember I couldn't wait till my Senior Prom it was what got most through High School. These kids are given sooooo much that they take it all for granted and appreciate little. |

I know it she could care less about senior prom. I had to drag her out to get a dress. She is more excited about moving away to college in the fall.

That is too bad. This should be one of the biggest nights of her life instead it is just another Prom. |

I came across this on the Boston Fox site.
Donate Your Prom Dress! Last Edited: Thursday, 29 Mar 2007, 11:51 AM EDT Created: Thursday, 29 Mar 2007, 11:43 AM EDT Donate Your Prom Dress! Have a past season prom dress that’s taking up space in your closet? Donate it to the FOX25 – Anton’s Cleaners Belle of the Ball prom dress drive.
Dresses can be dropped off at any of Anton’s Cleaners’ 43 stores or Jordan’s Furniture locations up until April 16th.
The dresses can be any size, but should be in good shape, only “gently worn” and should be no more than 3-4 years old so that they are still trendy. After the dresses are collected they’re cleaned and will be made available at a special boutique at Simmons College.
The prom boutique is held in April for high school girls who need help with prom expenses.
For more information about donating a dress or to find out if you qualify for a free day of prom shopping at the Belle of the Ball prom boutique visit You must be logged in to see this link.

For you Lynda? I have two to go, my oldest and my youngest. By the way they should have the police patting kids down entering semi. Seems some "smart" girls figured out how to duct tape bottles of liquor to the inside of their legs and were trashed at semi. They were not 10th graders they were seniors who should not have been allowed there in the first place.

What the heck was Seniors doing at the 10th grade Semi? Why would they even want to be there? These were girls? Thats even worse. |
