I'm sorry to disagree Sally, but in my opinion, based on what I saw at that meeting, Leo McKinnon is not a good person. Leo is all about Leo. He says he was elected to represent the interests of the people. What interests did he think he was representing by bringing that letter out into public view?
Members of city government receive anonymous letters and anonymous phone calls all the time. Can anyone ever remember any one of them bringing one forward as an issue at a council meeting?
I'm sad and embarassed by what I see going on in city government now. It's not even something I can laugh about anymore.
I don't know what Leo's motivation was. |

Citizen,I agree with you, even Wayne said he has many anonymous letters from over the years and has never made them public. What I don't get, and not that I am pro Hanlon, since McKinnon spoke to the Mayor privately, why didn't it end there. There was no need to put it on the agenda, it's not like everyone knew about the letter. People knew about the "Snake" letter and that was never made public. It served no purpose except maybe to embarrass the whole of city government. I'm not saying I didn't watch it and eat up every minute of it, cause I did, but it really was disgraceful. |

At the next meeting Leo should stand up on a point of personal priviledge and apologize to Lori Bruno, his colleagues and the city for his actions. |

I have a feeling this "stunt" just might hurt him politically. |

I like Leo but that was kinda weird the way he presented that letter. Do you really think he had a hidden agenda or do you think he just had a laps in judgment? In any case I agree that he should apologize to Lori Bruno. |

I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories, but I actually think that whole thing was staged -- cooked up by McKinnon and the Mayor to embarrass Lori because she's had the guts to continue to question the Mayor about the audit. Or maybe I'm just becoming jaded in my old age . . . but there was something beyond bizarre about what happened at that meeting.
In any event, both McKinnon and the Mayor owe Lori an apology. Sure, McKinnon brought the letter forward but . . . did the Mayor have to play into it? |

Good point CK The Mayor usually doesn't allow anything to be said or heard that HE doesn't want to be. So for him to not put a holt on this letter reading, especially since he already knew it's contents, is more than a little strange. |

I think the whole thing has the "Vetrano touch" to it. It's just a little too convenient and Machiavellian. I'm with you, Citizen, on this one. What was also interesting was the lack of exposure in the Independent. Not a word about this. Perhaps we should get Josh a roadmap to Everett? |

Vetrano is that the hip lady? Is this common practice for the city paper not to cover any of this real "news"? Just that I think it is the Vetrano person you are referring to had a hip replacement? Now that is news? |

I was reading the advocate this morning and I can see that the advocate will try to un seat mckinnon as they should. I believe his time is up at the city council. |

We can only hope, cathy, but . . . unless enough people run for the office, it won't matter. And so far . . . only Joe Hickey has taken out papers, I think. Bernie D'Onofrio is living in another ward now, so that's already one seat open. Maybe if McKinnon caught enough grief for his stunt last Monday night, he'll decide not to run at all, but his ego being what it is (overinflated), it's doubtful he thinks, even in hindsight, that what he did was an embarrassment. |

Personally, I think the real problem is that the majority of our elected officials are idiots and we need a charter change! If we had fewer positions there would be a chance of keeping those with a brain and getting rid of those that sit on their brains! |

Good point Citizen, with Mike Mangan running for Ward Two that leaves an open seat Bernie can now run for since he moved to Ward One. So far we have open council seats in Wards One and Four. Now, since Joe McGonagle is running for Mayor who will run for Alderman in Ward 6? I don't think no one form the current Ward 6 council is an ideal candidate but what about David Ragucci running for it? He could win it hands down. There are past mayors serving on the Revere City Council. |

Yes, I understand that to be true. They've been trying to boot him since January '06.
Who's next? Whoever the Administration feels is a political threat.
