Anyone hear about the kids from the Parlin evacuating to the high school today? I heard it was possibly because of a bomb scare.

That's what I heard too, but I heard it was a lock down, which doesn't make sense if it was a bomb scare. |

Someone phoned in a threat. Probably one of the kids looking to leave school early. Nothing of any suspicion was found in or around the school grounds. Just some joker who thought fraying the nerves of the kids and their parents was some sort of a joke. I hope they find the delinquent and lock them up. |

And don't you think the parents should have been informed? Maybe a good reason to use the reverse 911. I understand it was at the end of the day, but an explanation to the parents would have been nice.

Let's hope they give us some type of written explaination today. They weren't even allowed to go back into the school to get their belongings, and with all the confusion where to pick them up (some were brought to the park behind school), my spouse and kids did not make it home until close to 3pm. |

.....and in case anyone was wondering what was going on at the High School around 10am this morning (Broadway was blocked off at top of the hill) with ambulances, police & fire dept there, - it was a mock drill. Was out working but stopped home for a second and thought it was another scare until I asked someone in the neighborhood. |

I can imagine if someone saw it and did not know what it was they would have assumed it was real. They had students with fake blood all over them and two crashed up cars.

It's for the Prom, they do it every year, to show the kids what has happened when you drink and drive. Those vehicles belong to the parents who lost children on prom night due to drinking and driving. They donated their vehicles in hopes to save other children. |

That's what I was thinking it was, too, but haven't the proms already taken place? |

No, the Junior/Senior prom is on the 25th. Tonight is the 8th grade semi. Maybe you were thinking of the 10th grade semi which was a few weeks ago. We talked about it on here.

Something should have been sent home with the kids, My son said that the principal talked to them, but a notice could have been sent to the parents. But Mr. Naumann is a new principal and doesn't have a clue. |

It is common sense to inform the parents. It is not Mr. Nauman who would make that decision. You better believe Freddy told him not to send anything home. After all we all wear rose colored glasses in Everett. It will not even make the papers, mark my words.
