This is a somewhat lengthy message, but it is very important that you read it as it will explain a couple of actions I have taken on this board. Feel free to contact me by private message or reply to my posting if you have any comments, criticisms, suggestions, or questions
It has been a little over three weeks since I have logged in and all heck broke loose. I understand that with the election approaching, there will be some hate thrown around and there are people out there who will attempt to discredit others. However, we must not allow ourselves to sink to slander, vile language, and insults, if we wish to continue to have this place to freely engage in real conversation online.
After reviewing posts on the board from 5/5 through 5/15, thanks to emails and private messages which drew my attention to the problem, I discovered a number of inappropriate postings, primarily by someone posing to be someone else. I DELETED this member and most of his posts. There was more than one poser, and plenty of other comments. I have yet to take action on everything and will continue to rely on you to help me keep the board free of these kinds of comments.
However, what I also noticed was the overwhelming positive discourse which continued to flow through this board (or blog if you will) in spite of the rantings and hateful postings. From the beginning I have been impressed my nearly everyone's ability to keep the bar high and yet keep the light shining on issues that otherwise would remain in the dark. This is why this board is still vibrant, and will remain in place for the forseeable future. I hope that, while we have seen a majority opinion dominate here at times, that all voices can be heard, so long as their words do not act to end debate but instead contribute to it.
In order to better serve the community, I have decided to appoint three moderators. I hope they will accept this responsibility, which is voluntary. You will see their names to the right of the forums and they will each have the ability to moderate posts. I am hoping that, as daily posters, actions will be swifter. There were many many worthy members who could be moderators, but I settled on three, one for each division of the forum.
Moderators and myself will be in communication with each other to ensure that each of us, as well as the board at large, can serve as the best possible resource to the community.

Perhaps Michael only looked as far as the copy cats? And there was a promise from the first JoeBlow to behave himself. Of course, if his first post here is any indication of what he thinks of as behaving, he probably won't last long.

Yes, moderators did you read the original posts from JoeBlow with no space between Joe and Blow? Because I am amazed that he was allowed to stay and Joe Blow was booted. I am sure it was an oversight.

Once again moderators you will see that none of us besides JoeBlow ever wrote any posts that were vulgar and disgusting like his were. I cannot understand why he is still here?

Funny how my post's got deleted,real funny. I think the owner gave the moderating authority to some who likes power and control. Instead of giving it to someone who can be fair and balanced.
This board is a JOKE, to think I thought it could really be something. The balance of power was giving to those that are friendly with one another. Not to people who can be bias.
So OK OK Ms. councilwoman kathy Gover chaulk one up for you, you happy there moderating me, and not you,I bet you are.

Joe, the fact that your posts were only deleted, and that you have not yet been banned, is a gift to you. Try honoring it by not acting like a jackass.
Many, many of us out here have disagreements, often time heated, without resorting to your particular form of "banter." Be an adult. |

| Just for the record, I do not know Michael, Citizen or Court personally. I do know Citizen and Court from their postings and I have the up most respect for their opinions, as I do of many others who post here. I do not believe any of us knows who the other is. I actually enjoy reading most of the banter that can sometimes go on here. It is always good to hear both sides of an issue. Personal and nasty attacks of other bloggers are ridiculous. So, if I and the others feel a post should be deleted, we will delete it. It has nothing to do with power, it has everything to do with what is proper. |
